    Default Starting WHFB

Ok, after Banished Ranger trying to get me into it for the better part of a year ive decided to play WHFB and play as Hordes of Chaos. Since im pretty new to fantasy, i just wanted to know if theres anything important i should know before i start. Also any tips would be welcome.

IN fantasy, movement\'s very important. Units move at very different speeds, and you need to take that into account.

Also, when disembarking from 40K, remember a few major differences:

-Charges, ie assaults, must be declared at the very start of the movement phase!

    -Movement is doubled when charging

    - Units do not move \'twice\' as they do in 40K, you don\'t get to do an assault move after your movement.

    - Psychology and Leadership must be taken into account in your battle plans.

    - Lastly, the outcome of combats is not simply decided by wounds, but by COmbat Resolution. Be sure to always remember that, I\'ve already seen knights charge a ranked unit head on, slaughter the first rank, but still lose the fight and flee.

Ya luckily i got Banished Ranger to lend me the Rule Book, so ive got a basic understanding of the rules. Its all the different types of movement that get me confused, like all the ways of turning and such. Looking forward to doing this though, lots of good events going on during the summer that only require things like One Wizard, or a squad of guys.

Myco, if you are new to fantasy why not take part in our little \"Tale Of...\" thing.

All you need to do is submit a monthly report of painting work, purchases, tweaks to army list etc...

There are about 5 of us so far but more are welcome!

    starting chaos? hears some advice

    -use no marauders on foot

-units of 20 chaos warriors rule

    -beast heards for the win

-chaos sorcerors are ace , combining magical prowes with a stat line that can put some cc heros to shame!

Thanks guys, currently just working out which kind of Cult army i\'m going to go, stuck between Tzeentch and Nurgle. Is there any advantage of doing one over the other, or is it better doing undivided?

Also working on a super sorcerer for an upcoming Canadian event for Nemisis Crown. Pretty much you bring a wizard of ANY points level and duke it out in a free for all, winner getting a custom terrain piece. My idea is a Tzeentch Lord, fully maxed out on magic items, on a dragon. So pretty much you have a lv 4 wizard, that can also kick some butt in CC, on a dragon. It smells like victory. On the bad part, i have no funds with witch to actually do that, since i need money for an actual army :P

well the changer of ways has got you coverer on the magic front

i would recomend sticking with tzeench for now MoN quickly eat up points and you need to get used to haveing a smaller army first

    likeing to sorceror

take staff of change to pown the magic phase:evil:
and the golden eye will see off most damage
also take a great weapon:evil: those mages wont know what hit them

But if he has a Staff of Change, doesnt that mean he cant take another weapon? Or does it not count as a CC weapon?

You are allowed to take a magical weapon and a mundane weapon. However, you can only use your Magical Weapon in CC, if you have one.

If the Staff is a Weapon, you sorcerer can\'t use his great weapon.

Edit: Marauders do NOT suck. An all-marauder army, led by Jeff Leong, won several GW important tournaments.
