    Hi.

    I am actually posting my mates 2500pointish deathwing army list. I play against him with my similair sizer jungle fist SM army and smash hima lmost every time.

    Could you give me some feedback to pass on cos he wont listen to me that it is a ridiculously small number of models for the cost. I outnumber him at least 3 to 1, i know they are all terminators but fire enough shots at them and they die, or assault with power weapons. Although admittedly azriel gives that command squad a 4+ inv and ezekiel gives them all an extra weapon skill.

    HQ Command Squad 1 (855ish points):
    Azriel - 230ish points
    Ezekiel - 230ish points
    Asmodai - 130 points
    5 Deathwing Terminators with furious charge - 250 points.
    Teleport homer - 5 points

    HQ Command Squad 2 (400ish points):
    Deathwing Grand-master (140ish points)
    - Master crafted sword + Storm Bolter
    4 Deathwing Terminators with Furious Charge - 200points
    2 Assault Cannons - 40 points

    Deathwing Terminator squad (440 points):
    8 deathwing termiantors with furious charge - 400 points
    2 assault cannons - 40 points

    Land Raider crusader (265 points)
    Used as transport for command squad 1

    Land Raider (250ish points)
    Used as transport for command squad 2

    Dreadnought 1 (130ish points)
    Lascannons, missiles

    Dreanought 2 (170ish points)
    Venerable, Furious charge, cc weapon, Lascannon

    There, it is roughly 2500points and the models themselves are quite ferocious there just isnt enough of them, as long as he doesnt tie up all my troops and can usually smash him.

    Advice please for a friend in need...

    Well apart from adding some marines and dropping the land raiders what he need to do is concentrete the forces.

    Pick a flank and smash it up. Don\'t get caught fighting along a battle line get local superiority and use it.

    It is a nasty elite list but hordes will pull it down.

    I personally don\'t like land raiders they are too many points.

    I would drop one of them and teleport the terminators in and spend the points on more terminators.

    I sort of agree with you about the land raiders they are alot of points. I dont have one in my army yet but i am planning on getting the las variant one. I think they are good as long they are not the only thing your enemy has to shoot at, you can waste many shots trying to destroy a land raider, if you also have many other units the enemy will not be able to waste all it fire at it and then they have dilemma on their hands.

    Yes he is also not the best tactician in the world.

    Well I have a couple of Land Raiders and they very rarly get on the battlefield. I find that after killing so many Land Raiders I can\'t bring myself to invest in so many points on such a large vehicle.

    Tell your friend to gang up on units and try to always shoot up the unit he will assault and then pile at least 2 units of termies into it.

    I think he will fine that this might make a difference, terminators appearing behind your lines always forces you to react and that is sometimes all you need to put your opponent offf his / her plan.

    With my World Eaters I tend to just ignore Las-cannon Raiders 2 beserkers per turn really doesn\'t bother me. My broodlord has made mincemeat of at least 3 Marine Godhammer pattern Land Raiders.

    Your tactics are sound and to be honest if i was him that is what i would do. when fighting against him my tactic is to divide and conquer, make it so that if he assaults something i can counter assault or just stand back and shoot him when hes finished. As for his land raiders i always go for the crusader first, that thing has his hardest squad in it and it packs a punch for killing marines (twin linked assault cannons).

    Ill show you what i fight him with. the points are no way near exact, in fact the whole thing is roughly 2500 so ill leave out individual points.

    Bear in mind i have the see but dont be seen trait so i can give tac and dev squads infiltrate.

    HQ:

    Master w jump pack, ps, pp, iron halo
    MOS Chaplain w jumppack + pp
    These two go in my assault squad

    Elites:

    5 man assault terminator squad w 4 LC +1TH/SS + Furious charge

    5 man Terminator squad w 1 ACannon + Missiles + 2 Chain fists + serg w PS + SB + Tank hunters

    Ven dread w Las + Mis + Extra Armour + Tank Hunter

    Troops:

    10 man tac squad w Infiltrate + Las + plasma gun + v.serg w PF + BP + Teleoprt homer

    5 man tac squad w melta + Mis + v.serg w PF + Melta-combi
    They have Razorback w las + extra armour

    6 man scout w 5 snipers + mis

    Fast Attack:

    6 man assault squad w 2 flamers and v.serg w ps + pp

    Heavy Support:

    Pred Annhilitor w twin-las + heavy bolters + extra armour

    5 man dev squad w Infiltrate + 3 heavy bolters + 1 plasma cannon + v.serg w PP

    In order to equal his points i also use a 3rd HQ choice. I know its outside of rules but otherwise he has more points. Its just:

    Captain w PS + PP
    3 veterans w CC + BP + 1 Plasma gun
    Champion w PS + BP
    Apothecary w BP
    +infiltrate

    Good solid Marine list, to be honest unless he learns from the games you will soon get board beating his army.

    Isolate is the only viable tactic and being able to pick your assaults is the only way for your friend to really win.

    Another way is for him to concentrete on the mission, but this makes a boring game when one player just snatches the objective in the last turn.

    I would lure your assault squad into a trap, butcher them and then start on firing the las-cannons on the land raiders at the predator and then the terminators.

    Maybe he needs to shuffle the army about and be less predictable, I would drop one of the raiders and get some scouts with teleporter homers then you might have a few problems.

    Drop the points down to 1500 and you will see that his army becomes more viable without the Land Raiders. It will be a problem killing all those terminators.

    Less points means less marines for you to outnumber him with, for me half the challange of 40k is fitting an army list out. To give a better game I would drop the points to 1200 and make sure he has no Land Raiders, you will find this a whole different game.:evil:

    Thnks mate.

    Ill show him this before our battle today I might even post a battle report of it if i can be bothered to write down everything that happens.

    I must admit we go for most points possible cos we like our big ol battles.

    Ive got another two tac squads which i am currently painting aswell cos i think i like in that department. and i could do with some speeders.

    He should learn and adapt, if not then why play the game. You could also in an extreme circumstance swap armies and show him how it\'s done.

    I have done this a few times with friends, play the game as normal then swap armies and replay it. At the very least it will show him that his list need updating and it may also give him some new tactics.

    ***squad is illegal, azrael/ezekiel/asmodai are special characters in power armour, and therefor cannot be in deathwing...not to mention its hrorendously expensive, and im not sure if they take up an HQ spot or not, i think they do, which means he has 4 HQs, which is also illegal

    so...he has 4 units on the table???....wow, i cant even describe how easy this list is to beat

    he needs more substance...like an army....he has no models, no units, and hes all concentrated which makes it far too easy to take down

    i could in fact possibly take this out with my 1700pt eldar list because he has so little...he just went out and spent the most pts possible to make his army as big as it could with the fewest models he could

    Ah...starks.

    I was waiting for you to come and give your view on this army. In fact i was hoping you would... and i knew it would be a brutal one.

    I couldnt agree with you more, although i thought the characters were members of deathwing but wasnt sure about them being in a term command squad.

    Yes this army is very easy to beat and i can smash him in a few turns with the list i provided.

    i will pass on your advice, and im sure it will be greeted with a furious response, although he should learn from what you have said. i have and am tweaking my tac squads to your spec as we speak, just need to get them painted.

    i have to go home in amin, finish work at 2 and havent got internet at home but please feel free (anybody) to add your two pennies and i will read it tomorrow.
