You must have built the perfect list, nobody has anything to say about it.

I know... or more likely they have so much to say that the reply lags out and shuts down their computers. Still what are some things you notice about the list, good, bad, or ugly. We need to test this "perfect list" this weekend.

Hopefully you made an error on the second Long Fang pack because it looks like you have four dudes and four missiles, which you can't.

Grey Hunters without a Wolf Guard are only going to be leadership 8, I know you are trying to maximize points here but for 3 more points you can switch a Wolf Guard in for a Grey Hunter and get the leadership boost.

You don't need 3x Razorbacks, drop one and use those points for your Wolf Guard and a couple plasma / melta guns.

Take the two remaining Razorbacks and put them as the dedicated transports for the Long Fangs - don't worry you can still put your Grey Hunters in them, but if you get 'big guns never tire' your Razorbacks will be scoring.

What wargear / special weapons do you have on the command squad? Wolf Guard Battle Leaders are great but you might consider a Rune Priest instead, he won't need costly wargear to make him good and the 'Divination' psychic powers are really too good to pass up.

See, told you Tallarn would come to the rescue. He's helped me out a lot in my early days with the Guard.

I have thought on what you have suggested and I do see your point on some of the things. I guess I am too new to understand some points to tactics and I do not have the 6th edition rulebook yet. So I am working on a limited memory of what I read when I borrowed it from Silent_P.

Yes, I did have a typo; my wife came into the room and started talking to me when I tried to finish posting. The Long Fangs are suppose to have one more.

I do agree with you that the Grey Hunters should have a Wolf Guard, which is only 9 points in difference and I will work to get them in.

I really have 50 points to work with because I am not fond of the Lone Wolf. I would like to play Space Wolves more before I run a solo character. This will give all the points for the Wolf Guard. What are your thoughts on Lone Wolves?

As for my Command Squad (which I assume is the HQ and whoever I run with him) is just the Wolf Guard Battle Leader on a Space Marine Bike; He is joined to the (Fast Attack) Swiftclaw Biker PacK. I did this because I hear that biker are good for fast assaults and such, which I like. My main concern is the new Overwatch rule. Overwatch killed my assault squad by guardsmen, 4/11 died, which sucked. I find it over-powered right now seeing that the assault is a random distance and if you roll under what you need, you don't move, but the opponent gets the Overwatch.

And I do understand that if I assault with one unit, that unit gets the Overwatch, but If I assault with multiple units, only one gets the Overwatch, not all of them.

I try not to tell people specifically what to do anymore, really I could hand you a 1850 point list that I have used to win tons of games and it might not win a single one for you because you play your way - and my lists are designed to play my way. If that makes any sense to you?

    That being said:

Wolves are one of the few codicies that get access to the Divination category, I would go with that. I always go with Divination, the powers in there can be pretty serious, the one that forces an enemy unit to re-roll their successful saves really puts a hurt on them!

The key is what you plan on doing with him. Rune Priests are not 'beat face' characters, they are a support character and they excel at making others better. You could do a Wolf Lord on a Bike, and leave the Rune Priest at home, now that would be interesting at this points level!

I always play 2x Rune Priests, heck I damn near invented the support priest / attack priest set - however they are really only effective over 1250 points. My advice would be to tool up a Wolf Lord or a Wolf Guard Battle leader, put him on a bike and let him beat face with the swiftclaws. The Wolf Lord (or battle leader) has a natural toughness of 5 thanks to the bike so even melta guns and lascannons can't double him out and with the Jink save you can probably get by without a Storm Shield. Use the speed of the bikes to get them right into a juice side of the enemy while those Grey Hunters and Long Fangs keep him pinned in the middle.

Once you get used to the codex and get a feel for it - add in the psychic stuff. Because really, at 1000 points you want to beat face hard. But if you like the bikes I say go for it, you can make them work for you and you will figure them out

Just a few of my thoughts anyway.

but above all - have fun with it and do what works for you!

    Thank you again, Tallarn.

I completely understand what you mean when your list works for you and not me. Silent_P and I play a few games occasionally (I want to do more) and I picked up on how he likes to play, does it every time and we worked on systems to counteract bad habits and promote good ones. So far I haven't beat him in an annihilation game, and all my wins come from objectives/points.

My original list has the wolf guard leader on a bike, never played with bikes though. I like the thought of turbo-boosting 24", if it is the same in 6th edition.

I will keep posting my progress.
