    Default Fazack's Iron Knights

I finished my first squad. They are modded from the battleforce box, with sniper rifles and cloaks. There are a few things I am pleased with, and plenty of things I don't like. What strikes you?

They're pretty cool dude! Only thing I'd say is pick out the chest eagles and skulls on their forearms in a different colour. Black, white or gold maybe?

I think they look pretty awesome, man :) The cloaks look a little too big, but that might have been the look you were going for.
    Current project: Word Bearers
    88/183 infantry painted (48%)
    2/8 vehicles painted (25%)

On the workbench: Chaos Lord, Vindicator and Bestigors

    My works in progress :)

I have been thinking about picking out the eagles. The reference Iron Knight in the codex is just the same silver, but then he has mini badge sheild thingy to give more interest. I didnt that was quite right for scouts.
Gold - the armour is bluey/silvery. I am not sure gold would look good.
White - I might just go with this
Black - I think this might just make them recede more than stand out.
    lighter silver maybe?

I was going for long billowy John Woo cloaks. Though, I think the cloaks look too thick in lots of places, particularly some of the collars.

    Thanks for the suggestions.

Just to put this in context... This is Fazack's first stab at painting in, what... 20 years?

TBH I'm not convinced by the sculpting on the cloaks around the collars (although the camo colours look great in the pics) and, for me, a mini is always only as good as it's 'weakest' part (which is why I never try too much sculpting!!), but apart from that I think they're a great job.

Great paintjobs, but I'm not sold on the cloaks or some of the poses. Heavy bolter guy looks like he's going to try to throw his weapon, and the one-handed "brandishing their sniper rifle like a pistol" guys look sorta awkward. Having said that, your camo looks great and I like what you've done with the color scheme.

I agree the cloaks have many sculpting weaknesses. I will leave them as blu-tackable options. I also agree that I have overused the waving around of rifles one handed.
For the heavy bolter, I was more thinking of waving aloft in victory. However throwing/bludgeoning xenos with a huge gun does not seem inappropriate.

I agree with Inquisitor Alex - great painting, but weird poses.

I made most of the aquilae and wrist skulls white. This is the no-cloak option.

I'm not going to try and fix the poses now, just do better next time. Hey, no 3 is OK... 5 is a matter of taste... and the rest are poor.

I think the white chest look works well. It's not so bright that it pulls your eye away from the rest of the detail on the models. Great job on the khaki pants, I like the way the dark brown in the creases gives way to the lighter shades.
