Introducing: Astro Dice

In the world of dice Chessex is generally regarded as the best of them all. Custom made in Germany by dwarven dice masters, Chessex dice are perfectly balanced and highly durable. Typically a 'brick', like the one pictured below will retail for around 10 dollars.



These are not the small 12mm dice that come 36 to a pack, these are the 16mm kind that come in packs of 12. These are the dice that knock down mini's and sound like the fists of an angry god pounding the table as they fall. However, leave it to the Sandman to find a way to improve perfection:





This is a picture of the first Astro Dice, secure in a secret under ground facility deep beneath the brick and steel of a nondescript building somewhere near Fort Wayne Indiana. The Astro 'A' has been put in place of the number '6' so you enemies may tremble at the sight of the Astro staring back at them.

Because shipping and handling adds to the cost, and because I know we are all tight with our hobby dollars these days, im going to set the price at $9 dollars per brick, that is 12 customized Astro Dice for less than a brick in the store, except that we will have to figure out shipping and handling part of course.

Once I place the order it will take 3-4 weeks to get the dice made. Here are the colors im currently looking at:

Are are other options available (LINKY HERE) but I figured keeping it simple with three regular dice and some different colors so you can do special weapon rolls and what not would be best. (another cool color is Blue with White) So let me know what you think and if anyone is interested, if you are interested let me know about how many you would like and ill start adding up.

Now, profit - of course there is profit built in to the price. All the profits go back into the Astro prize fund. I am kinda thinking that this is a good way to get some dice and support the community all at the same time.

Very cool idea ! Chessex do great work with their custom dice.
Some buddies of mine who run a Bloodbowl tournament have had custom dice made for a few of their events - I have an awesome set of black/red marbled chessex dice with gold numbers and Khorne runes for the 6.

As a bonus, the dice could also be given out as prizes themselves, maybe for something minor, or get a set of special dice to be given out to those on Astro as real life bragging rights.

Would it be difficult to make the dice with numbers instead of pips? OR not make the edges cut?

There are 10,000 different ways we could do dice. The easiest way that will satisy the most people is with the standard 16mm dice with pips.

I may pick some up, just a shame they don't do larger packs - I need plenty more dice for my Ork's assault phase :P

12 Dice is the base 'block' you can order as many of those as you want, 24, 36, 48 dice... and the colors can be mixed a matched however you want. I just need an idea of if there is interest in buying dice, and who would want what colors... then I can figure out the overall order and what numbers of dice.

I would absolutely get one or two blocks (one red, one white) and I'm prepared to pay a little extra to account for the distant shipping.

On another note, I remember running against a player with custom dice (ork face instead of 6's) at a tournament. To this day I remain adamant his dice rolled WAY more 6's than his other dice. To his credit he also used them to roll for his LD tests (and consistently failed them thanks to always getting a 6).

Back on track, the design is great.

And if you want Farskit, ordering 18 of one color and 6 of another is perfectly fine as well. So long as the total dice amount comes out to a multiple of 12
