    Default Imperial Guard 750 Point Lists

    I decided to take things a step further and lay out some 750 point lists I came up with. Remember, these lists are to serve as a jumping-off point for bigger army lists. You can field them at 750, though they will certainly need a bit of tweaking. Like last time, I kept with the 4 major themes of Armor, Mechanized, Foot Sloggers and Airborne. I also added in another list I like to call "plasma". It works nicely against those pesky space marines that keep showing up.

    While writing these lists over the past week, I did come to one conclusion. The 750 point level is a giant pain because things don't quite fit as neatly as they do at 500 or 1000 points. I always find myself being 5 points over, or 20 points under. With that being said, gentlemen, I submit to you the following lists for consideration.

    This is the list that I used when I started building my guard force in earnest. It has performed rather well at the local gaming shop, but I will admit I have only used it a handful of times. I'll usually pull out a couple of the grenade launchers to sneak some plasma in should the need present itself. Otherwise, I drop the autocannon on the sentinel along with one grenade launcher to give the melta veterans a good doctrine.

    Here's an out-and-out armor list designed to irritate your opponent. Fielding three russes at 750 sounds rather mean, and it will certainly give that guy with his landraider something to think about. The big problem, though, is the lack of anything else. Still, I believe the lascannons would have a difficult time shredding the AV14. Just watch out for those guys with powerfists who like to sneak up on you.

    I hate foot sloggers. I don't play foot sloggers. The Emperor gave us chimeras for a reason, I suggest you use them. However, if you are so stubborn that you insist on plodding along under your own bi-pedal motion, I designed this list for you. It doesn't have much knockdown power, and it certainly doesn't have the heavy armor backup the guard deserves, but it does have large numbers. The general idea is to combine the three squads of each platoon into one big blob of guys being led about by a commissar.

    I hear you groaning already, "But P! You put lascannons on a sentinel! Why would you do that?" Well, my friend, to answer your question, I had to put in -something- that could open up a tank and I think lascannon squads are just a waste of points. Strength 6 weaponry abounds on the board, and I think a sentinel with AV10 is a touch more survivable that a toughness 3 guardsmen and his pal. But not by much.

    I have two Airborne lists. I don't like either of them because I think a Valkyrie is just an expensive chimera with wings. With that being said, I did manage to spark my own imagination with a squadron of vendettas and their lascannons. Look these two lists over, and tell me what you think.

    I included the Astropath for those of you who like to hold things in reserve. I've heard quite a few tales about melta veterans in valkyries outflanking the enemy to rain doom down upon the xenos filth. The biggest fault to this list, in my humble opinion, is the fact that two of your birds are going to be paired up together, leading to that dreaded immobilized result killing a squad.

    I think this list is a bit more maneuverable than the previous, and it keeps the astropath for the outflanking abilities. I also like the vendetta better than the Valkyrie because you have those three beautiful lascannons. Unfortunately, we all know that you can't move 12 inches and then open up with all three of them. This list also has a bit more firepower with the inclusion of the command squad and their medic backing up the three plasma guns. There's 20 points left for you to play with, possibly for the inclusion of some heavy bolters on the birds, or maybe some bigger special weaponry.

    this is what i call the mixed responce, capable of putting down most foes. the anti-cover save large blast would annoy anyone, especially armies like foot slogger orks or anything in need of a cover save. bikers beware!

    Here's my plasma list. It has... plasma guns. This list will either rock socks or leave you with several seven man squads. I've seen it go both ways. All in all, it scares the bajeebers out of MEQ armies, but every time you roll those dice, you're gonna feel something in the pit of your stomach.
