Thanks for the kind works guys! I think your all right in regards drilling the bolters and washing down the metal. I gave them the Devlan wash last night and will put a bit of badab on the metal to tone it down a little bit as Chaos is anything but factory fresh! Then it'll be matt varnish time and snow flock and fist squad completed.

Be sure to get those mold lines on the next squad as well as drilling the bolter barrels. The painting is top notch though.

Happy Halloween all! My hangover has worn off now and as i've got today and tomorrow off I thought I'd make a start on the fantasy army. Firstly here is the first of my 3 Heroes. I really enjoyed painting this model, the detail on it is incredibly crisp and i found the paint just flowed.

I usually use characters to pick the palette of the rest of the army and after getting this guy to this standard I decided to have a crack at the unit. There's still a bit left to do on it, such as finishing the banner and highlighting up the horns, but as a paint scheme I think its working well, especially with the snow bases. Tomorrow I'm going to finish squad No.2 for the 40k force and start the conversions of Marauders with great weapons (all axes of course)

I'm also arranging to have a few games of Dystopian Wars with my friends which means i'll need to fit in painting up a British fleet too! But those models look so good I'd imagine they will be incredibly fun to paint.

All of it hand highlighting this time, working from black to blood red through the usual GW colour range (I don't use scab, its too brown). With the Beserkers I find it better to airbrush, but this unit seems to benefit more from the hand painting as less than 50% of the model is red armour. I'm tempted to paint the outside of the cloak a colour, but what goes well with red as a good cloak colour? I'd usually do bone, but im not sure this fits with my theme/fluff. The background of the fantasy army is going to be one of a fully Northern wastes tribe and as such I want everything to look very wintery. So dark cloaks make more sense to me, but at the same time they seem too dark at the moment. I'll see how it looks in the morning.
