the battleforce is a good place to start, hammerheads are good but dont count out the broadside battlesuits. they can be pretty devastating as well. do you have the codex yet?
Thanks, guys. I do have TONS of Lego, so that won't be an issue. It's just finding the sizes of the models to see if I'm able to build them to spec (or close). If I didn't have Lego, I wouldn't try; they're MORE EXPENSIVE than WarhammerLol. And, I've built lots of stuff out of Lego; and I think it'll hold up pretty good, as long as I don't have tiny parts just hanging there. But, the main body of the miniature will hold up fine.
Also, the other guys are set on their $300 armies, and though I could start with just a Battleforce, I REALLY want some tanks, and I don't want to make the other guys suffer for my sake. I'll buy the miniatures I'm proxy-ing as soon as I can afford it (I like the models, and want to paint them. Lol.)

Ya, I like the Hammerhead with this GIANT railgun, and the Sky Ray. And, I like the Broadside, as well. I do have the Codex, thankfully. It's very interesting to read the background in the Codex, as well as the tabletop info:)
well if you like tanks then the battleforce may not be the best bet ( i think it only has 1)
you should make an army list with what you want and then buy that. then your not stuck with paying for units that your never going to use
I want everything in the Battleforce, as well. There's some really good units in there. And, it comes with a Devilfish transport. The only thing I'd swap out, if I could, would be the Crisis for a Battlesuit Commander. But, the Battleforce is still the best value for me. I just want to add to it.
with a little bit of converting though you can make the crisis suit into a battlesuit commander. or there are some bitz sites that you can get the extra bits for a conversion
Cool. I'll have to look into that. The Crisis is good, but the HQs are better:)
So I hate to be skeptical... but I do think its a real shame you're not using the actual models. I feel you may miss out on some of the finer aspects of the game (my favourite part is assembling the minis).
What point value are you playing to exactly?
As others have mentioned, building your army slowly isn't a bad thing. The game is complicated, so starting small actually works well in your favour.
If I had to suggest what you should buy. The Tau Battleforce has $135 worth of stuff for $110 and is the only battleforce you can just pick up and play. Its great value, and has a great selection of models. I bought one just the other week... just because. Build and play that at its smaller point value. By the time you've assembled and painted it, you'll have money for more stuff... and you'll be becoming a strong player, due to the learning curve of the Tau. Afterwards, buy a skyray box... and then battlesuits... so many battlesuits.
I'll be buying the Battleforce, but my buddies' Elites, Heavies and HQs would DESTROY me if I didn't have a couple tanks or something to help me out. That's all. I plan on buying the models eventually, but we're going to be playing in about a month, and unfortunately, I'm not going to earn an extra $150 to spend on Warhammer in the next month. I have bills to pay:(
Not sure the point value yet, but it'll be higher than my Battleforce alone.
