Ill give it a try if gin is doing it, I mean, whatever is safe enough for him to choose should be more then safe for me.

If you are reading this gin, then yes, you are astros crash test dummy/ danger checker.

besides, this rpg gives me an excuse to bring back the time favored monocle and top hat ive always worn.

Right, this little bit is just to help with the scene/ timeline, and for those who may not be quite sure about steampunk settings,
London, 1800s victorian era, basically its an alternate timeline in the "what if" type.
Now good films to get you into character or to see types would be will smith wild wild west, or think legue of extra ordinary gentlemen, nemo, nautilus, rockets etc, no invisible man though.
Try to think that everything we have now ran by electric is available then, just powered by steam, on any scale.
Electric lights, mechanicaly enhanced body parts, think cyborg accesory clip on strong arm* patent pending..
Scooters, horse and cart are still in use but you would see electric steam cars, motorbikes, weapons, well some are colt 45, some are 303 rifles, some fire electric arc bursts, fire different kinds of projectiles, long range sniper rifles.
Dress. Still victorian but a bit more flamboyant or "usefull" for riding, using stuff.
You are looking at very industrious kind of people able to turn whatever they have to good use, able to make stuff really well, designed for the job at hand or future use, who knows maybe outside influences.........?
To follow later will be a intro into the scene of the day, hopefully by tonight if all goes well, as the game goes on expect more scenes and twists.
I see we have ladies now in our mists, i would love to see a quite strong willed but lady like adventurer/science teacher?
Now with this info... Go create your character, a profession, age, ideals, family?, loner? Do some of you know each other?
Talk here about your character, man or woman, all of his or her details, lets see who knows who, or even if not known maybe you know of the other character by his/her profession or shop or notability.
Remember london, victorian, normal people but all are great steampunk engineers, able to do what is needed in their feild of expertise, we need to get different characters, not just brawn.
I will say one character, who plays a big part is Jack "the spocket" smith.

Oh just pure info, there was actually a steam computer invented, it was huge and was going to be taken on by the british goverment but the initial cost proved to much an so was abandoned, this guys, is true.
It was called the differnce engine, and the anaylitical engine, desighned by babbage.
It ran on its own kind of cpu, and program through punched cards

Okay, here is a short character brief. If there is anything untoward let me know.
Having only been on the forums for a short time I won't be presumptuous enough to assume to know anyone, but if anyone would like to be a friend to my character then that's fine.

    Age 39

Tall and slim, he has a narrow face framed with medium length brown hair. He wears round glasses over his bright green eyes. Working in a watch shop, he does little beyond the fine and precise art of clockwork manipulation. Though most of his work revolves around pocket watches and grand clocks, he has taken the occasional clockwork pistol for servicing. Usually he is clad in the plain but expensive black suit of a gentleman, though he occasionally dons an apron if the work demands it. He walks with a slight limp, an old injury he acquired during his youth when he served in the city guard. As such, when he walks he requires the aid of a fine brass topped cane. Those who know him personally know that the cane is also a sword, though he has never had to use it, he regularly practices it's use should the need arise. Cogs generally keeps to himself, but he is a clockwork engineer of some renown and usually finds himself busy with work. He is patient and precise with his work, but these mannerisms do not extend to his social life. On the rare occasions he ventures out he is jovial and partial to a fine wine. His temper sometimes flares if faced with incompetence or time wasters.

Cogs has no family to speak of, his mother (a clockwork engineers assistant) and father (a boiler engineer) died early in his life and his siblings were lost to plague and illness. He seeks little from life except the perfection of clockwork, though having experienced nothing beyond it, perhaps he is merely waiting for something else in his life.

He owns a small shop, tucked away in a side street on the edge of the Islington district of central London. He runs this shop from sunrise to sunset and lives above the shop in a large apartment. Far too big for his needs, he lives in only a few rooms of the 3 story apartment.
