Default Faileas and the ‘The Auld Alliance' or ’Ulthandanol’s Vengeance’

Army name ‘The Auld Alliance’ …’Ulthandanol’s Vengeance’

Thought it was time I gave a bit of a update *smiles*

There are several reasons why I picked Wood Elves for this tale, I’ve been a fan of them since I first read about them in a white dwarf battle verse Chaos Dwarfs many many moons ago, and I love the models that are available for them. However the main reason I wanted to get some wood elves was as an ally force for my beloved Bretonnians, I had planned to get an elite raiding/ally force of wood elves to use along side my Bretonnians and this tale was the perfect chance to create my army. I want to theme my army as a very specialist raiding force…I also wanted it to be infantry based (seeing as I have plenty of the best cav in the game with my Bretonnians) and without any Treekin type units.

I’ve even thought of a bit of fluff based around my general ‘Ulthandanol’ and why he is aiding the Bretonnians and how he came about.

Before the tale I originally planned for the force to be just 1k in points, however the tale has fuelled my passion and imagination and I’m now thinking of a 1.5k force or maybe even 2k. I have a nice conversion idea I want to do, I’d like to convert a unit of stag riders (lead by a character on a great stag possibly), I’d use the rules for either glade riders or wild riders with the exception of the stags gaining a +1 impact hit for maybe 2pnts a model!

My idea of the 500pnt list was as follows

Nobel, Light armour and additional hand weapon
Hunter’s talon and Pageant of Shrikes
    131

Glade Guard x 10 (Standard and Champ)
    132

Glade Guard Scouts x 7 (Musician and Champ)
    131

    Wardancers x 5 (Champ)
    128

    Total 498

I fought 2 battle today (using my Brets and Dogs of war as proxy) with this list and won them both (verse vamps and Chaos), I had planned to use my Hero to snipe the vamp/hero’s and the plan worked perfectly (with a little miscast help!) The wardancers also worked very well. In all I was happy with how my list worked. Esp since I had never used Wood Elves before.

seemed to work well, its real hard making a 500pt list that can work effectivley, and i think shooting is more important in such lowersized gfames, i shall watch to see how htese tree huggers progress :)

I’ve adapted my original 1000pnt list to the tales required 1500pnt one and I must admit I like the 1.5k one more, in fact this list is going to roughly be my target for the end of the tale…..unless I decide to up it again *grins*

I’ve tried to keep it as similar to the 500pnt one, like the army has been growing, rather than making a complete new list.

So in keeping with the last list and my raiding theme here is 1500pnts of Elfish goodness:

As the 500pnt list with the following exceptions:
    + 1 Glade guard
+ Musician in the Glade guard
    Hero
    - The Hunters Talon
    + Waywatcher Kindred

    New list:
Spell singer lvl 2 , Deepwood sphere ,dispel scroll
    175

Noble on Great Stag, Wild Rider Kindred,
    160

    3 x Warhawk riders + champion
    140

    +5 Wardancers (=10 inc the original 5)
    97

5 x Stag riders (Wild Riders Proxy) (full command)
176 pnts (inc additional +2 for the stag rule)
    166 pnts (without rule)

    9 x waywatchers + champion
    224

    Total 1500 or 1490

Please remember I designed the army for the joy of painting the models and a theme, I know this won’t be the ‘best list’. But I play for fun mainly. Also If I wasn’t allowed to use my special stag rule I’d be tempted to add a magic item instead of the extra glade guard.

Also here is a wee sneak peek at Ulthandanol, He’s not quite finished yet, slight touching up to do and the base and arms to be done. I’ve went for an autumn colour theme…any how CC always welcome.

I just planed that they got +1 impact hit or +1 strength on the charge, but cost +2 points a model? I thought that seemed fair.

Hmmm, +1 strength would be 2, but impact hits would be more.

Despite being panzies they still look nice. Gotta be good at something eh?

Looking good so far Faileas, leaves would be a really cool base if done right.

Your lords looking god mate, very autumnal. I'd try finding some of those etched brass leaves for the bases of you stuff, it'll keep with the autumn theme what with them fallin from trees and such.

EDIT- I've just read what Aeth had put in LoganVivisected's log and it reminded me (I say reminded, he blatantly wrote) where they come from.

Just using them as proxy for Wild Riders seems fairer....
