Metal – acceptance, elitism, boredom and finding inspiration.

I have been listening to rock/metal music for as long as I can remember and there are a few things that still bother me.
Acceptance –
Ok this is not being popular for listening to metal. I know as much as the next fan that that isn’t going to happen. I mean metals view in the public eye. More often than not I have been chatting to someone who say they ‘hate’ metal, im guessing these people obviously think all metal is cookie monster vocals. But then we go to the cinema to

Well here I am, today is the 10th aniversary of the day I joined the Royal Air Force. In my career I have met my wife, made the best friends I have ever had, been to foreign countries, spent countless nights in a tent with 35 kg backpack. 10 years today....
£100 to spend on non GW imperial guard, Ideas?

Further to a previous blog entry ive decided to collect an IG army without using GW minis. It will be a combination of other minis companies (urban mammoth, west wind, wargames factory etc) and converting 1:56 scale real tanks.
Ive just had a windfall of £100 and hope to get
a - a legal 500 point plus army
b - as much extra as I can afford
any suggestions?

Dear games workshop.
I have been collecting your range of Fantasy and Science fiction miniatures for over a decade. It is a hobby I have loved since a teen and I thank you for introducing me to the world of wargaming. Your range of miniaures and detail in them are amazing. But your raising of prices has to stop.
I have defended GW many times but I operate a 'three strikes and your out' policy and sadly GW has now passed that. Here are the 3 major events that have resulted
Imperial guard - other minis

As I branch out to other miniature companies im going to start an 'imperial guard' army. I think the guard are the only 40k army I could get away with not using GW minis as future troopers are quite generic. So far I really like the look (and price) of wargames factory greatcoats, Pig Iron heavy infantry, urban mammoth VASA/Varidian troopers and a few other bits and bobs. I also Intend on buying 1/35 scale tanks and doing some conversions. There are 2 main reasons im doing this, 1 is budget. 2 is
