Buying the Scouts individually will ultimately set you back, better to wait until you can afford the whole box and save a good chunk of money and have a very decent starting army (plus will give you time to catch up on your painting, which I imagine there's still a lot of? ) Just realised I should have private messaged you this, rather than spacing it out in this way....me <----- idiot
From there it would be a simple purchase to get your points higher, while benefiting your army as a whole. The Space Marine battleforce, expensive at £50, but it saves you a ton of money on units you were probably going to want anyway. It would provide you with the Scouts you wanted, a Rhino which you need, Assault Marines which are always fun, and another Tactical Squad. I know that more Tactical Marines aren't the thing you need the most now, but what you do need are some better weapons in your Tactical Squads. You would have the components for other heavy weapons, more tooled up Sergeants, in addition to plasma and melta guns. If you constructed five of the Marines in this way, you could use the other five to make a Command Squad for your Captain. It wouldn't be very hard (you just save all the ornate decoration in the box for these five models and paint one white for the Apothecary). The contents of the Battleforce would push you easily into the 1,500 point bracket.
Now if you bought a Librarian, which I know you want to for the Blood Raven theme, then as long as you bought one in terminator armour (which you should consider because it is a great model and terminator armour really benefits Librarians), then you could easily manipulate your list to total 1,000 points. It wouldn't be the best list ever, but it would be a very cost effective method for getting 1,000 points on the go :)
Hey dude, I thought I'd give you a hand with your Space Marine force, I know it can be frustrating to know what to get next - especially when you're on a tight budget. At the moment the army list (at least one I just cooked up for you anyway :)) you have is: Captain, relic blade, boltgun = 130 points 10 Man Tactical Squad, flamer, missile launcher = 170 points 10 Man Tactical Squad, flamer, missile launcher = 170 points 5 Man Terminator Squad = 200 points Dreadnought = 105 points
Good idea to head your GW, you'll find you've forgotten a lot of the intricate rules. Make sure that if you play someone, you mention you haven't played for ages. This will (hopefully) ward off the uber competitive and make them cut you a little slack in terms of rules. What is your force looking like nowadays in terms of models? Do you have a Space Marine codex?
Ah dude what happened to the black, white and purple colour scheme? That looked good! :D Aw well, I guess you'll have an alliance collection! I played one of them recently, can look very good. Anyone at your uni you can play against?
Ah cool stuff, send me the link so I can have a look. I mostly stick to the 40K forum, so anything outside of there I can miss unless subscribed :( I see you've already met gingus, he's a friendly bloke, good addition to your (no doubt soon to explode) friend list :) How are your Marines going nowadays?
Hey dude Looks like you're getting on well in Astro! Keep it up, it's a very rewarding place when you stumble across a good discussion or two :)
