View Full Version : Severing Scouts

I've got an idea for a conversion involving some of my sniper scouts. The problem I've got it that the models in question are the kneeling type and solid pewter. (http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://farm1.static.flickr.com/146/373274276_7cfaf282c2.jpg%3Fv%3D0&imgrefurl=http://flickr.com/photos/j_pang/373274276/&usg=__jX-zs2WcO3EIGUE_DwAafJQCbNI=&h=500&w=500&sz=77&hl=en&start=48&sig2=SqkJTIIx63sgwcz8qz8VVA&tbnid=xAv_Gqidk_UBaM:&tbnh=130&tbnw=130&ei=2yRPSa2wCYWFtgeCjZ2tDg&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dwarhammer%2B40k%2Bscouts%26start%3D41 %26gbv%3D1%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DN&um=1)

I need to know how to cut the bodies of these guys horizontally without making an awful mess (example: dremmel tool) or taking a finger off.

A razor saw like the GW one should do it... (this one (http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/armySubUnitCats.jsp?catId=cat1290201&rootCatGameStyle=paints-tools))

Although I'm sure you could find one cheaper than theirs...

Almost definitely; but be sure to check out razor saws online first - Ark got one that was cheaper than my GW one (which i love) and which is totally worthless - the teeth are huge and not sharp at all.

Simpliest solution, trade your pewter models with someone that has the new plastic models, or simply buy a box of the new snipers.

the plastic models are much simpler to convert if you are set on doing a major conversion like that.

The pewter snipers are nice enough that you will have an easy time finding someone to trade with.

Wish I had someone around here that plays Space Marines. The new place I've found only sports Dark Eldar, IG, Tau, 'Nids, Chaos, Orks... basically anything but SM. Just bought a Predator and the new DA codex, planning on saving the rest of my "spending" money.

I'm in the middle of building more heavy bolter scouts to place with my 10th company scout army that I'm building. How many scouts snipers do you need to trade for?

Just a few. I've got one of my roommates bringing his handsaw back to school when break is over, it'll get done :D
Thanks for the offer :)
