Ok , so I have narrowed down my choices for the latest Chaos Mortals armies to these 3 lists.
What I need from you guys is your expert opinion on which list would be the most copmpetative and would be able to take on all comers...

First my 'Fighty' list:

All of the lists are 2250. I know I will struggle against shooting, but that has always been Chaos' weak point (if they have somthing like that). But which list do you think would work the best overall- the fast CC list; the slower but more magicy list; or the "slow-and-steady-force-them-to-come-to-me" list?...

i like the sorcery list most. think the solid army is a bot much with 2 hellcannons any chance of swapping them for a unit of knights? sorry cant help more as i dont have the chaos book but i know i would not like to face these lists!

About the knights for a hellcannon- I don't know whether you know, but it changed completely in the 7th ed- its a stone thrower now with streng 5:( but still a competent fighter:D

I will field them one on each flank of the army and shoot the opponent to force him to come to me while I slowly advance, and hopefully the effect of the artillary will make him bottle-neck or force his units away from each other... either way I should get a side charge in - especially with the tough anvil of warriors in the middle!
If I use 1 squad knights they will either get ahead of the rest of the army or be shot dead (what usually happens :( ) before they see any battle because they are taking longer than usual to get into combat when the advance with the rest of the infantry...

Nway, thanx for the feedback! Any more comments or advice anyone?...

Yeah doesn't it?! I removed the two Hellcannons from my "foot army list", 'cause they just do'nt work so well in the

context as I thought they would! But I'm still trying to find a list were they can fit in nicely... I think the biggest problem

is that its just a tad too expensive for what it is worth... oh well......

Unfortunately for your 1st "fighty" list the warhounds do not count towards minimum core choice...

Yeah I've noticed that, but I haven't had time to edit the list. I drew up the list before I had the book.

Killer, i was thinking that Hellcannons could work in an all out fast "Hit & Run" sort of force, with mainly Marauder Horsemen as your Core with come Warhounds to help back them up, and with a couple of units of Knights might work.
Cause you will be shooting at them, while they start to worry about what they are more worried about, The Force or the Cannons.

2 hell cannons all the way! My friend made an army which was hillarious... 'The Not So Evil, Not So Good At Shooting Army Of Ranged Chaos!'
It had 2 hell cannons... a bunch of mages... it was funny... but ineffective.
If I were you I'd trade one of those hell cannons, they are good but 2 is not practical

@ Banjax: Of course not! What advice do you need? I will be updating the lists soon, Im just a little swamped right now and my internet at home isn't working so every chance I get I use a friend's or internet cafe... Hang tight- the new lists will be up soon!

@ Snoza: I FINALLY got the damn armybook! They were all held up at customs for some arbitrary reason! Anyway, yeah thats quite a nice idea! Ill draw up a list and see for myself! The only snag is I still think the cannon is cool, but not worth the pts. From the armybook it seems that the Hcannon causes panic in any unit the template touches, so it does not have to wound! Is this true?

@Carrelio: Hey that seems cool! I'll have to try it some time! :D But yes I totally agree. At the time I was considering them I forgot about the crew! Alas, they just are not as cool anymore as GW would have us believe... :(

just a hit, the wording :

DoomFire: The Hellcannon fires as a Stone thrower with a Strength 5 (10 for the model under hole) Units hit by the Template must take a Panic test at -1 Ld

it may just be from getting hit by the Template, but i think it might be from getting hit by the blast. The wording above is the exact wording from the WoC Army book.

Well, Marticus- They nerfed the cannon quite a bit! it's a stone thrower now with S5! It has a dwarven crew of 3 and they most bizarre misfire chart ever!

When it fails it's beserk check at the start of the turn it cannot fire and it moves 3d6 to the nearest enemy unit.

Well, thats the short of it...
