4k point Chaos Mounted Army.

This is an army I\'ve wanted to play for a while now. It would require a HUGE financial investment but I just love the idea of it. It does use Forgeworld models as two major focal points and it will likely seem TINY by normal 4000 point army standards.

General.

Archaon, Lord Of End Times - 855 points

Core Units.

10 x Chosen Of Chaos, Musician, Standard Bearer - 480 points
- This unit will be Archaons personal unit of knights.

5x Knights Of Chaos, Full Standard - 215 points
5x Knights Of Chaos, Full Standard - 215 points
- Both will be accompanied by a Sorcerer Of Chaos.

5x Marauder Horsemen, Full Standard, Flails, Shields - 115 points
5x Marauder Horsemen, Full Standard, Flails, Shields - 115 points
- To take the flanks, and provide some form of fast cavelry.

Rare Units.

3x Bull Rhinox Riders, Thunderlord, Heavy Armour, Ironfists - 507 points
- Forgeworld mounted ogres. Gorgeous models.

Chaos War Mammoth, 20 Marauder Riders (hooks & chains, light armour, s. bearer, cheiften) - 760 points
- Another forgeword model. It\'s massive and gorgeous.

Other Characters.

Exalted Sorcerer Of Chaos, Level 4, - 270 points
- This guy will be riding on top of the Chaos Mammoth.

2x Sorcerer Of Chaos, Level 2, Chaos Steed - 272 points
- These are going to be joining the Chaos Knight units.

Aspiring Champion Of Chaos, Battle Standard, Chaos Steed, Mark Of Tzneetch - 194 points
- Just to add the bonus of having Tzneetch magic and a Battle standard in one.

So what do people think. I know it would be a rather impractical army, but it would be a gorgeous one to face on the battlefeild.

Lol! It\'s an Apocalypse WFB army!

Obviously not practical but a wonderful spectacle to face on the battle-field!! If you have the time/money I say go for it!!!

Where are the stats for the Mammoth and the Rhinox riders? Are they in a FW book?

Impractical perhaps, but the most important thing is the fun factor of the modelling and gaming. And by the looks of it this would be an amazing army to play with and against! And eventhough it will be smaller than normal 4K armies I can pretty much garantee that the rhinox cavalry, the mammoth and Archeon\'s unit will make a serious impact. Magic messing with cavalry or heavily armoured unit will be your bane though ;)

As you can see the Chaos Mammoth is by far the most expensive.

Knights Of Chaos - £120

The whole army would cost me £517 (About $1045 USA) not including paints, glues, anything I use for basing etc.

Hefty sum you need there, though it would definitely be worth it. Something to keep in mind though is that you can always add cheaper stuff afterwards, using the stuff you have as the basis for other chaos spin-off armies.

I\'ve seen the rhinox rides in the flesh and they are definitely worth every pound. The detailing, but more importantly the characterfull sculpts are superb.

I want to get the Chosen Of Chaos unit and Archaon model bought and painted then I\'d likely get the Ogres next.

My main opponant with this army is a 4000 point all mounted Bretonnian army containing both King Loueur and the Green Knight. Her nights outnumber mine about 3-1 but I have magic, a mammoth and some potent bonuses on my side.

I\'ll post her army list at some point... she\'s still collecting it though, she has only 2 units bought and painted so far.

I\'d love to see that battle! Archaon vs. The Green Knight would be interesting as the climax!

I bought the Archaon model simply because it\'s so cool... Managed to pick up the Gamesday Archaon on foot from Ebay too... I\'d start looking around for one of those too if I were you... I think his mount gets killed more than he does!

If I can\'t get an Archaon On Foot model I\'ll make do with a Crom model to represent him if his mount dies, it\'s not ideal but it will do at least.
