Hi,

I've always wondered about dreadnoughts. Space Marines and otherwise. Whats the best combo?

Crassus

P.S I do Daemonhunters so that combination would be good

Hi there Crassus,

Gviing a Dreadnought a CC-arm + flamer is only effective if you drop pod it, because otherwise it would have to walk across the battlefield and thats not really a good idea. Also, you only have 2 attacks with the CC-arm, so only tanks and monstrous creatures would suffer...the latter being potent enough to destroy your robot within 1 turn!

The ideal Dreadnought Setup would be a Lascannon + Missile Launcher one with being VENERABLE and TANKHUNTER ability. That way, it is much harder to destroy and has a S10 and a S9 gun!!!!! (talk about Tau lol);) Alternately, to make it more versatile and a little cheaper, you could keep the Assaultcannon arm. Then you'd get four S7 rending shots per turn, thus also making it more effective against Infantry and light vehicles, but reducing the range to half.

Yeah, I like that second setup he mentioned. Seems to work to pretty good effect. I have not yet tried it in full against Tau yet, but it worked well vs other Marines and a Khorne army.

i'm a fan of dreads with plasma cannons, but normal marines don't get that. i'd say your better off with an dirt cheap dread, with the minimum possible, it makes it that much more valuble as a unit when it takes all the fire and doesn't die
