View Full Version : What is Astro about?

I guess this might just be a temporary thing over the last couple of weeks because of the new site and everything... But I\'ve noticed that for last week or so Astro has been mainly about Astro rather than a forum about 40K/WFB!
It\'s starting to become a forum about itself... About the site and the people on it rather than about the hobby... Now that\'s fine if that\'s what people want to talk about but... I\'d just thought I voice a note of caution!
I\'ve found most of the posts over the last week a bit dull... And I know the people involved! Imagine how dull it must all appear to a newcomer looking at the site for the first time and expecting to find a Warhammer community (not just an Astro community!)
I don\'t know if anyone agrees with me on this... And I hope it\'s just temporary... But I\'d like to see alot more posts about the hobby please!

i agree, but i suppose thats what happens when a forum goes through a big changeover like astro did!
also i think that if you would like more hobby posts then maybe either revive an old topic that you have an opinion on or make a new one!

Yeah this happens every so often, I remember a number of months ago I said virtually the same thing when the majority of posts were arena and general non-40k. pretty soon it will change back to a proper site again :)
That said, why does it say on my tabs in firefox \'astronomican warhamer fantasy battle and 40k community\' when 40K is the most common thing we all use!

Its a case of re-orgernisation. We are simplytrying to get ourself back into the swing, whilst orgernising a 40k campaign between sites, so as a result it is pretty astro dominated. About a fortnight as it\'ll be largely 40k once more, (whf i can\'t see being as popular)

I don\'t thnk we\'re losing members or anything. we\'re just making changes. People can still enjoy themselves with our site. they don\'t need to follow others posts.

ahh, i figure it\'ll probably quiet down once all teh changes are implemented, the war is over and Hakwe\'s ego is returned to its metal case....;)

Yep. Rather dull. Join up to some other sites and wait a couple of weeks until it goes back to normal.
The \"ZOMG VOTE!\" era has finally ended and so will this, although to be fair, this is more interesting then the voting era.

I\'m not sure how i missed this thread, but having \'unmissed\' it now I\'ll comment.
CC is utterly right. However, I do think that when there is a changeover happening the natural direction of attention will be towards the site. I think however, that the upcoming Speartip Campaign ought to snap a little life back into the place in terms of why we\'re all really here.
I\'d like to point out (NO I am not advertising- so don\'t think it! :) ) that with the commission painting I\'m doing now that I\'m working a lot more on models and things at the moment than usual and as a result I\'m taking more pics and noting progress, so I\'ll be postig more stuff up and maybe running a few tutorials and things once I get everything down to a fine art so that I can contribute that way. One of teh things I\'ll be doing when the next WHFB job comes up is how to make a display base for gaming and display- especially for skirmishers, so look out for that handy little article.
With a smidgen of luck we\'ll break this egocentric cycle and get back into the hobby we all love.
So with a pleading grasp, lets see more posting in the main forums- army lists for crit, fiction for entertainment, and lots of modelling- we love to see how you get on with your miniatures, as well as all the other forums.
I will point out as well that tomorrow there is going to be a cull of certain forums here to clean things up a bit as well so things should start to neaten up a bit in that sense too.
Don\'t worry guys, the site is coming along at a trundle and when the changeover (We\'ll be shifting to Fireboards soon to help with the bugs we have right now) is fully finito we ought to see majot improvements.
So come on members, lets see some games related threads and get into the habit of posting about the hobby we love! The balance will be shifted from the general threads to teh games boards!
For Astro! For the Game!
