Okay, I\'ve ran this past Mods and I\'m allowed to do it, so i figured to give people an incentive to paint and/or do something special with their Warhammer.

So the basic idea behind it is a 10 man (or woman if you play sisters) squad that are either pinned down in enemy territory, or off fighting on distant worlds. (It must be a battle situation) so they must be shown on a hand made display base.

\'Da rulez

Must be a ten man squad on a display base

Battle situation

Must be in by 15th of April (I\'m hoping it will take this long)

The lot must be completely painted

A small description of what is going on in the scene must be supplied.

An army may be entered

The display base must be 12\" by 8\", no smaller, no larger,

The prize will be a custom signature made by myself, (using Photoshop CS2) Unless contestants see fit to donate something towards the prize (This is open for discussion but please use the other thread)

This thread should be used for Completed works and discussion about rules etc. Anything that needs clearing up please Pm me.

A WIP thread will be opened if you wish to share your progress.

I wish you all the best of luck, may the Emperor guide you.

Can any of the squad members be dead or dying?

Also anything in perticular it should be mounted on?

Solinus

A full 10 man squad should be used so yes dead and/or dying is okay, but at least 7 of them must be fighting/alive and ready to fight.

Basing, should be a 12\" by 8\" board, sorry for not making that clear, i shall edit the original post, also if you wish to enter please let me know, so i can keep a record of how many are entering!

Cheers

Count me in!

Nice contest, time to put on that thinking cap again. I\'m hoping we\'ll get some more entries the the last 2 contests.

Just 1 question, do the 10 squad member have to be mounted on the display so that it becomes 1 pieces. Or can we use normal bases in combination with a large scenic base?

Solinus
26-12-2006, 03:40 PM
Well that\'s a good question, I\'d like it if all models (or at least all alive models) were completely removable, in order to save money, so yes, they can be removable, but the bases of the models have to fit in with the surrounding terrain (e.g not just like putting models on a table) I\'d prefer it if holes were cut for the bases to sit in, as it looks better and more realistic...i supposed it can be optional though.

Thanks

Sounds good, I will give it a go!

Just to clarify do Wargear models (Runts,Drones etc) count towards the ten man limit? Or you just can\'t have them at all?

As me, Ocelot and Patriarch thought up this competition I would think that drones/grots and stuff like that would be allowed. As long as they are on their own base (unless they are somehow attached to a model) it will make the scene look even better. Hope to see some WiP soon

Are youa llowed less than 10 models (like, 8 or 10)?
And, I suppose the answer will be no, but anyways: if the squad HAS to have a transport (like pathfinders), do is have to be there aswell?

Scolar
27-12-2006, 01:59 PM
The transport shouldn\'t need to be in the scene, but as a transport is so large if you had 10 models the scene might look cramped. Its open for discussion so ill talk to Patriarch when I can so we can sort it out.

Solinus
27-12-2006, 04:12 PM
No transport dosen\'t need to be present. I am not at home at the moment so any other questions that need answering i will gladly do so when i get home.

I am glad to see so many of you entering!

Also the wargear question... yes it is allowed, and in answer to Farskits question....no it can\'t but dead squad members are allowed.

I don\'t want it to be fully ruled over...as it\'s all about using our imaginations...i just wanted to make it fair and even for all entrants.

So as of now.... unless a rule has been stated already by either myself, Scolar, or Ocelot, it\'s all up to you guys :D

Mines going quite well but is far from completion....

I wanted to get some pillars (http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/acatalog/TERRAIN.html) off Forge World but no credit cards so there goes that little dream...

Still, it\'ll be good enough.

Even thinking of hitting up a cake decorating store from pillars (a la wedding cakes)? Speaking from 2 1/2 years of experience, Wilton seems to make REALLY nice cake stuff for the prices they ask. I\'ve got a ton of pillars laying around my workstation at home.

And while I haven\'t yet tried to make one look ruined/dead, I\'m sure that if you cracked it on a counter-top of maybe worked at it with a jewelers saw, you could make some killer pillars.

If you lot are still up for this you have just under a month to finish/start it :) I\'d be really glad if this went ahead as I\'m looking forward to seeing some of em :)

Nearly had forgotten about this competition, I\'ve just been way
to busy to get any real build time in. I should have time
this weekend, but I\'m not sure if a few days will be enough to
totally convert a (yet undefined) 10 men squad and build a full
detailed scenic base.

I am however working on a smaller diorama of 4 men on a smaller
circular base (damned real life ;) really messes up any kind of
planning I make), I know it doesn\'t follow the rules of the
competition but I\'ll try to finishes before the deadline. That
way you have another entry, which you can disqualify for
ignoring the rules :P

Meh, even so I\'d like to see it!
