Hi all. Just finished this stormtrooper today, he will be in a unit of 5-10 in an armoured company I plan on making. He was quite tricky to do seeing as I have little GS skills.

Ive found that my photography is slowly getting worse, this batch of pictures wash out a few main colours. Anyway, I hope you like him

12-12-2006, 03:10 PM
well hard to say, i cant see much other than the brown which i dont like much, its just an ugly colour in the photos

you need to work on freehand though, straighter lines, the easiest way is to do your design and then erase the sloppyness

oh and winsor newton series 7, 000 size brush=perfect for freehand, i had faith in CMoNers, and it worked out, the brush really is very nice

Well i like browns, and i can see alot of good GS work there. Keep it up and i may be forced to give a karma boost...

12-12-2006, 03:17 PM
The number can easily be changed with a spot of snakebite leather. Not everyone will like all the colour possibilities but I really like the brown I use.

More to come soon. Hopefully a nice converted destroyer tank hunter and the rest of the squad in the near future.

12-12-2006, 03:18 PM
I don\'t know whether it is intended, but I like the \" 11 \" as it looks like the soldier has actually painted it on himself.

12-12-2006, 03:44 PM
god thats cool, looks like halo and i love it

13-12-2006, 09:36 PM
thanks for the kind comments.

Just to let you know that the picture has been loaded into the imperial guard section so please vote. Also my gang leader in the non 40K models section is lacking views so check it out please :P

14-12-2006, 02:41 AM
great model. he looks really cool with that color scheme and I agree that the\"11\" looks like he did it himself.

14-12-2006, 07:39 AM
Forgot to tell everyone that the shoulderpad was changed. You can see the new design on the gallery

14-12-2006, 09:23 AM
Great work as always mate!

29-12-2006, 02:51 PM
Hi there. Started work on this Sergeant earlier today, only spent a few minutes on him but so far I am please with how hes going. As always the pictures aren\'t as good as I want them to be but I made them slightly better in the ol\' photoshop. The armour colours is a light tan I guess, not yellow.

EDIT: grrr I am going to break that damned camera. It\'s a piece of crap

Knight of ne
29-12-2006, 02:55 PM
i quite like the brown/yellow/tan you use as i think it very nice, my only question is the seargents pose, it looks sort of well, i cant quite explain it, i just dont think it works well, maybe its just me.

like the colour scheme though, congrats.

29-12-2006, 04:16 PM
Yeah you cant see it in the picture but the dude is leaning forwards and charging, like he has slashed an enemy with his chainsword

Knight of ne
29-12-2006, 04:17 PM
in that case, keep up the great work!

29-12-2006, 04:19 PM
Again very nice work, a full unit of those is going to look absolutely fantastic!

29-12-2006, 11:32 PM
Im loving it... keep it UP!!

29-12-2006, 11:40 PM
Looks pretty good! Have any Storm Troopers to show? Their my favourite IG models.

29-12-2006, 11:44 PM
Unfortunately no stormtroopers to post up here. they have been dropped out my army to be replaced by 20 conscripts and a kick ass Commissar.

Ill post better pictures when I get a new camera or if I can get any good \'uns tomorrow morning

07-01-2007, 09:55 AM
an update. My elysians will hopefully all look better than this guy, I am aiming to paint each basic grunt as if it is a commander model

No inks used on his armour, just blended up from a dark brown. C&C?

Viscount Vash
07-01-2007, 10:04 AM
Very nice,
the brown has come up really well indeed and his mush is good.
Glad you dropped the blue background on him it hurts my hangover.

Looking forward to seeing painted drop troops, only ever seen them as resin at FW.

07-01-2007, 10:43 AM
Great looking Sgt model there Scolar.

Looking forward to seeing the full unit.

09-01-2007, 10:09 PM
Got my converting mind in gear tonight and within about an hour and a half I have a half finished converted stormtrooper. Forget the conscripts! I now have elite troops

Still a fair bit to do on him, sculpt his backpack and run wires to his gun, oh and some forearm armour. The rifle is like that because I think they look snazzy and hi-tech:P

09-01-2007, 10:12 PM
nice work, i like it

10-01-2007, 12:30 PM
Thought I would post the finished greenstuff version of him (the cable running from the gun to huge pack is added now) before I paint him later tonight.

The greenstuff always looks messy in photos but will blend in nicely when the model is undercoated

Aun O Vader
10-01-2007, 12:43 PM
the model looks awesome! there\'s something about his backpack that is a little bit odd to my eyes, but otherwise he\'s the next best thing to perfect! looking forward to seeing him painted!

Viscount Vash
10-01-2007, 01:51 PM
Nice! I really like the \'pup\' style lasgun.
Muchly looking forward to the paint, your guard are a treat!

10-01-2007, 03:05 PM
Just about to go check to see if the primer is dried. However, when I used the first can of black spray I may have slightly textured his front before I quickly switched to a different spray.

Top tip: Don\'t use the same spray can to undercoat models as you did undercoating scenery! It can sometimes ruin the spray can\'s spraying action :pinch:

10-01-2007, 05:29 PM
primers are supposed to leave a rough texture on the model, a smooth finish is actually bad because the paint doesnt stick as well if using thinned paint(like you SHOULD be  )

as to the spray drying on the tip, turn the can upsdide down after use and spray it out, helps avoid this if its been a problem

10-01-2007, 06:00 PM
I do use thinned paints

Viscount Vash
10-01-2007, 06:10 PM
All of what Starks said really,
also when you finish a can of spray do the turn upside down gas expulsion thing then keep the nozzle and chuck the rest. You can never have enough spare nozzles.
(Particulary super glue...clogg up will ya.... mutter mutter....)

Scolar Visari wrote:

**oh haha sorry wasnt directed at you, i just put it in for those who dont :)

11-01-2007, 05:40 PM
oh haha a bit of a misunderstanding there B)

Anyway I am getting faster and better at painting grunt models so I painted this guy earlier today. C&C welcome and it will be on the gallery very soon. I will probably wait for tomorrow to get some better photos because as always I feel they don\'t represent how the model really looks, for example the black looks flat in the images.

As you can see my stormtroopers modify their weapons and gear to suit themselves in battle. They are the best my army can offer so I guess they are allowed :)

11-01-2007, 05:44 PM
wow dude... you paint eyes rather well

grr i dont even try painting the eyes... i find em soo annoying #

11-01-2007, 05:48 PM
The trick with eyes is to paint white on either side of the eyeball when the face is black primed, then clean up around the edges and there is an eye staring at you!

I really like your guard.

11-01-2007, 06:30 PM
Nice trooper there Niall, loving the conversion work! And the basings cool too :)

titch wrote:

you need a fine detail brush that keeps its point, then its not a problem

and as to the models, the armour could use a bit more contrast to bring it out, a deeper brown in the shadows would be nice

Nice Paint job there Scolar.

How you use it for your sig?

11-01-2007, 09:18 PM
Thanks glad you liked it

I honestly don\'t know. Patriarch did the 3 \'Heroes of the Imperium\' sigs

The Banished Ranger
11-01-2007, 09:21 PM
How many more are there? I just like squad photos.

11-01-2007, 09:24 PM
only 2 and a tank make up my guard army so far :(

But fingers crossed my first infantry squad will bother to turn up from forgeworld tomorrow so the stormtrooper squad will likely be on hold for a while

The Banished Ranger
11-01-2007, 09:31 PM
Well it\'s always fun to start a new army isn\'t.

Forge World...niceB) ...but expensive:blink:

11-01-2007, 09:52 PM
Very nice painting, im so jealous! It\'s so hard to resist buying new armies though. I\'m devoted to the Greater Good though so i can make it:P

13-01-2007, 08:09 PM
First Elysian complete. Yes that means they finally arrived on friday. 2-5 days delivery my arse!

Painted this guy today and produced some rather bad images of him, (I say that all the time :pinch: ) I will get some bright pictures tomorrow.

He is pinned to his base so that he can be pinned to the squad\'s diplay/diorama base I am working on for the competition. And this time he did paint the II on his armour so don\'t blame me for its wobblyness :P

13-01-2007, 08:22 PM
I\'m impressed! I suppose the quality of the sculpure is a great plus, too...

But still, to me the guy looks fine on your first picture, but on the others, he looks like, well, he just slipped over something... An alien banana peel perhaps.

13-01-2007, 08:23 PM
haha yeah true I\'ll have to re-pin him sometime

He was a joy to paint, so much detail

13-01-2007, 08:24 PM
FW models should have stat bonuses for being so damn well sculpted:laugh:

13-01-2007, 08:27 PM
Yeah they get a stat bonus. Then they get a stat reduce because of the mould release fluid on the figure and the flash, I used the worst moulded legs first to get them out the way.

13-01-2007, 10:57 PM
Great work, as usual! I\'m all jealous now, forgeworld doesn\'t accept creditcardpayments from Holland (at least not my creditcard company). The only other possibility is to use an international transfer, but only with an order of 200+ pounds.:pinch:

But I\'m drifting of subject here, keep up the work. ANd I\'m looking forward to seeing more!

19-01-2007, 11:28 PM
SO I thought to myself, why stick with just Imperial Guard when I could be collecting a speed freeks army at the same time?

So this is the speed freek warboss on his wartrike. Riding with him will be 3 Nobz on equally outrageous bikes. This guy has taken me very little time to make actually, even if the army doesn\'t go ahead it will make a nice centre piece for my shelf
Not much more to do on this guy, make his power claw, add some more gunz and gubbinz, fix his left arm up and then of course paint the guy.

What do you think?

Viscount Vash
20-01-2007, 08:58 AM
Nice one Scolar,
I love Speed Freeks!
Although that might have been obvious, probably the most fun to model up.
If you like any of my bits in the gallery PM me and I will let you know what parts I used etc.

Looking forward to seeing more and paint on that one1:)

20-01-2007, 11:51 AM
Last update before I greenstuff the warboss and finish the pose up. Hopefully you can make out the jagged piece of metal the warboss uses as a handlebar in the first picture.

I was thinking of adding a huge fur drape on his shoulders and back to beef him up, although not too big or he will look out of place on his trike

24-01-2007, 06:41 PM
Just a marine I botched together today because I have a cold and been off school

Just need to add some chapter insignia if I can think of any

24-01-2007, 06:45 PM
Very sweet! I love it! Teach me :woohoo: also...get your ass on msn?

24-01-2007, 06:51 PM
Thank you dear Patriarch

Technical problems with msn right now, ill keep pressing retry until it logs me on dammit!

24-01-2007, 06:55 PM
Close msn, wait a few mins then open it and try again.

27-01-2007, 02:45 PM
Just some shoulder close-ups of my 3 painted marines. 2 more needed to finish the squad but they will be finished after my assault squad I have planned for this weekend. I need to get the combat patrol finished for the first monday of the February half term.

I hope to update with the near enough finished assault squad tomorrow.

27-01-2007, 03:05 PM
lovin the free hand decal work

27-01-2007, 05:12 PM
The Boss on the trike is amazing, I hope you\'ll also get around to the nobz. That would make one unique unit!

29-01-2007, 06:52 PM
The warboss and retinue have most of the february half term to be completed, the nobz will be riding all sorts of bikes including choppers.

At the moment though I need to get this patrol done.
I finished this squad last night but I need to add a few minor things and perhaps fix the eyes slightly.

29-01-2007, 06:53 PM
very very cool

29-01-2007, 06:55 PM
You must teach me...how!

29-01-2007, 06:58 PM
Good job :cheer:

The lighting washes away the detail such as the scratches and makes the red look pink.

Heh heh, looks like their doing the conga in the last two shots.:)
Very nice Scolar nice indeed, you don\'t very often see two tone Marines or lighter colours for that matter round my neck of the woods.
Im not really sold on the lime green purity seals but apart from those they are great.

04-02-2007, 09:25 PM
Scout squad was finished today. Not overly impressed with how well I painted these but then again they only took about 4-5 hours so what do you expect ;)

I\'ll take some proper photos tomorrow so I can upload some stuff to the gallery. only two marines and a landspeeder to do and the patrol is finished YAY!

13-02-2007, 04:58 PM
Little update here, landspeeder has been finished and the pilot and gunner glued in. Only two basic marines to paint and the patrol is done! :woohoo:

So what do you think?

13-02-2007, 05:18 PM
Very good especially the bone side. :)

13-02-2007, 05:35 PM
Looks pretty good! I love the grizzly feel to the pilot and the gunner :)

13-02-2007, 05:35 PM
I really like this one, also good work on the very effective colourscheme its creates great contrast!

13-02-2007, 05:53 PM
I\'ve always enjoyed a quatered colour scheme for marines, and you\'ve chosen a couple of well matching colours to do it with.

Your landspeeder especially is very aesthetically pleasing :).

13-02-2007, 05:55 PM
Thanks for the comments guys! The land speeder is my favourite model so far

13-02-2007, 05:57 PM

I have to say, I also like the fact that Astro can be seen on your monitor in the background!!

Looking forward to seeing the whole patrol in one pic!

well that looks great! I can\'t wait to finish mine. should be done by the end of the week. I also plan to spend a little more time on astro since i haven\'t been on a lot lately. Peace! B)

14-02-2007, 05:56 PM
Very cool

I like it, Karma!

14-02-2007, 09:56 PM
Hey all! I wanted a model to paint to me best but alas the high elf lord I wanted wasn\'t in stock. So I bought this fellow and wow is he a great sculpt or what? :P

Quick head swap and about 40 minutes painting time so far has led me to this....

Please ignore his kneepad, it was the first bit of nmm I tried on him and it went terribly wrong :pinch: ! The blends are much smoother to the eye as well. So what do ya\'ll think?

The Warsmith
14-02-2007, 10:22 PM
scholar m8 u have outdone yourself again. beautiful blending and the head works since it looks like the armor is larger than his body which is how it should be

ill make sure i get you the pics of my manticore first... now ehere did i put malus darkblade?.....

15-02-2007, 02:40 PM
This is what I did last night, planning on painting a lot more today so I will be updating regularly.

Oh and now I have a full combat patrol picture, after they have come back from my local GW.

15-02-2007, 03:18 PM
that silver nmm needs to go brighter, and you need more contrast in the chest, theres too much brightness over the area(as in you are covering too much ground with your highlights)

remember this doesnt mean make everything brighter, just where light is hitting gets the brightest

to darken your overall metal, add some darker shades

not bad, blending is good, just need to correct the lighting :)

15-02-2007, 03:20 PM
Looking good on the chaos champion, great replacement head!

Nice pics of the combat patrol, must have made a good impression at your local gw.

I don\'t think the highlights need to be any brighter on the armour, or else it will begin to look like super polished elven armour. That isn\'t the look I am going for. I need to sort out certain areas in the chest like has been said so I will begin dulling some bits later.

I\'m really pleased because I got lots of positive comments about my patrol at the GW

15-02-2007, 10:25 PM
nope, even dirty rusted metals go all the way to a bright creamy colour...or white

its not your highlights that determine your overall brightness, its how dark your main colour is, darkening shades also helps darken the colour through contrast

highlights always cover less and less area the brighter you go, same with shades, its how you create depth and effects, without changing the overall shade/colour

hes one of the best known NMM guys on the net: Yellow One (http://www.coolminiornot.com/browse) all his metals go to white or creamy colour...even the non super shiny ones

Added some more to this guy, I am pleased with the NMM steel I have done so might only add some lighter spots later on.

16-02-2007, 11:04 AM
damn your NMMing. I can\'t do silver to save my life :(

Oh, and its called the \"delete\" button ;)

16-02-2007, 04:04 PM
im going to try and explain the problem with the latest version

the problem is the metal you have done, is not \"reflecting\" light, its simply affected by it like any other material

scroll to the bottom of this article for the pictrue:
Here (http://www.ttcreation.com/modules/articles/lire.php?id=18&langue=en)

this should explain the difference between yours(mat) and what you want(brilliant) and how its achieved, as you can see both objects are the same colour, one is just more reflective than the other because of the more intense and brighter highlights

trust me, you might think it looks good now, but adding the bright highlights will make it look that much better

remember, nmm is lighting effect first and foremost, its a blending technique second

well thanks for the broken link, it really showed me the contrast between the lettering and background. I particularly like the 404 not found area of the page....

And back to my model. As I look at it, the nmm looks like metal. Have you ever looked at different areas of metal in real life? You can bloody well see that not everything reflects the same. It comes down to personal opinion. You think my model lacks contrast whereas I love the way it is going.

Just a typing mistake from starks, it should be this link (http://www.ttcreation.com/modules/articles/lire.php?id=18&langue=en)

I for one like it, hell of a lott beter than what I could hope to come up with. Never really tried my hand at nnm, mostly because I\'m a 40K kinda guy and I don\'t like the nnm look all that much on sf models. And let\'s face it is pretty intimidating.

every metal, reflects a bright creamy colour, or white..EVERY single one, every COLOUR in the world goes as bright as a very creamy colour(even black)...the difference, is how intense and how you speed your blends to show different materials

with say a piece of clothing, you would gradually increase over a large area...while with metals you drastically increase over a small area...this is how you get the \"reflection\", all metals reflect otherwise you wouldnt know they were metals....weathered/oxidezed metals have less shine, because the metals are being eroded, however they still go to a creamy colour

\"personal opinion\" is just an excuse, im providing you facts, and well supported ones, with visual examples to try and explain it, if you dont want to improve your nmm even more then ignore me

I dont appreciate that kind of sarcasm either, especially since I presented you with information and examples of how to get better

@hephaesto, thanks, i didnt realise the link was broken

how am I forcing? Im giving information, Im critiquing, which is the purpose of posting in a forum is it not?

I complimented his blending, and said he could get an oustanding result with more contrast, and did my best to explain how

I corrected him on one of the problems he had on his first attempt, and look how big a difference it made, and how much better a result it was

Very nice Scolar, NMM is a tricky bugger to get I tried it on Rackham models a while back (the French seem to have an affinity for NMM their stuff is great).
As far as I have noticed your the only one brave enough to give it a real bash so keep at it.

Starks advice (and examples) are all very valid but the bonus about the forum and therefore his advice is Take it as far as you as you want.(To be Honest I personally would be happy he took an interest.)

Just some pictures of the feral orks I did, I will add more warpaint and such to make them more camouflaged at a later date. When these are done I plan on making 5 Sqog (large squig) riders that count as boar riders.
What you can\'t see in the picture is most of the flash furs that the trappas wear as trophies

Captain Castus
19-02-2007, 07:44 AM
Nice Orks mate!

One thing I would change is the colour around the bases... I\'ve always found green like that a little too bright! If you painted them brown (e.g. bestial) I reckon it would go better with your quite naturalistic colour scheme (which I really like!) At the moment your eye is drawn too much to the bases and not towards the great painting!

19-02-2007, 09:09 AM
Looking good! Great colour scheme, very effective, but im going to have to agree with the good Captain about the base colour, it should be a more muted green, mabye the same kind as the Ork\'s skin.

19-02-2007, 06:00 PM
I reckon these guys look more feral, don\'t you?

19-02-2007, 06:03 PM
Ah much better... I cant wait to see more of this lot!!

Captain Castus
19-02-2007, 06:30 PM
Yup! Much better!! Great stuff... How large an army are you doing?

A combat patrol to begin with, and when that is done I will most probably expand it to create a huge WAAAAGH! :P

Soon when I buy another box of boyz I will have enough to finish the trappas, build and finish the Sqoriders and begin on either the madboyz or huntas.
Also there has been a change of list which will be posted soon

19-02-2007, 11:47 PM
Thats looking heaps better, and im quite liking those horns. Good work, should be a great loooking WAAAAGH!

12-03-2007, 08:44 PM
Ok I\'ve had the urge to return to my beloved chapter. Bought a terminator squad at the weekend and done some painting on the sergeant. What do you think of him so far?

Nice very good, although it seems like his eyes are too close together.

Looks pretty cool! What\'s the head from?

Keep posting pics... CC likes! :)

12-03-2007, 09:08 PM
The head is the monk-like head from the Brettonian knights sprue. I shall try and update as much as possible, been trying out gold NMM on his banner too.
Thanks for comments :)

13-03-2007, 07:59 AM
nice headwork there mate, very cool looking!

15-03-2007, 01:41 PM
Looking good, really like that bone/red colourscheme.

18-03-2007, 08:28 PM
Taken a break from painting marines and finished this Elysian trooper, just the scenic base to paint now, so I come bearing very bad unflattering pictures! :P

This last picture shows the grey armour more clearly.
What do you guys think of him? Ouch these pictures are bad :(

18-03-2007, 09:08 PM
did you ink them? cuz the colours look shiny

the brown needs brighter highlights or more contrast im not quite sure aas you mention the pics arent the best, the black could probably go brighter too

looks pretty good though

19-03-2007, 10:20 PM
Nice. I like this scheme better than the FW scheme thats for sure.

Starks, as always, good advice.

20-03-2007, 05:25 PM
The shiny-ness is caused by the resin itself. And YES I did wash the models thoroughly before anybody makes that comment :P

If you look carefully through the dark picture you can see the armour is actually dark grey, huzzah!

27-03-2007, 03:19 PM
Here is the wip of a mercenary/enforcer/military police model I have been converting up. They use a different Mk of carapace armour and try to use the best equipment available. These could be easily used as enforcers for necromunda games. He will have a boltgun hanging behind him and the other shoulderpad will be reinforced. Then I\'ll armour up his lower half.

And a new Mk of boltgun used by the unit. Basically all unnecessary bits have been stripped off to make it lighter and a larger magazine has been added. 60 rounds instead of just 30.

27-03-2007, 03:26 PM
Looking good, really like the layered armour.

I\'m also working on guard veterans to use with Inquisitor Gideon Lorr, you\'ve given me a bunch of great ideas.

*KARMA*-boost time ;)

28-03-2007, 12:55 PM
Why thank you Hephesto

Just about finished him now, unless anyone has some suggestions?

need some inspiration for a base. I was thinking a necromunda style urban area with a steel girder, thoughts?

28-03-2007, 09:35 PM
so you\'re leaving his hand opoen so it looks like he\'s reaching for something? kool! nice work with the armour scolar. Should look nice if you paint it like the other guy.

28-03-2007, 09:56 PM
Originally he was holding onto the top of the bolter, but I decided to not do that as the hand position looked quite natural and fitted a running pose.

I tried to have a pose where he is about to do the patented running jump before an explosion

29-03-2007, 01:04 AM
I\'ve actually seen a mini that was modelled to be jumping in the air and they placed shrapnel around him like he was jumping away from an explosion. It took a lot of work and a lot of flying base parts from what it looked like. but your guy looks fine the way he is, bolter or no.

Grandpa Ducky
30-03-2007, 05:46 AM
Looking good, but might I recommend using some Greenstuff for the gun strap instead of the card? The GS will give it a more natural feel while the care looks a little stiff.

Also, maybe flip the bolter and have it slightly higher on his back? I think that\'d be slightly more natural, unless he\'s flying through the air, dodging shrapnel. Then the bolter would be whichever which way.

A final tip/comment/criticism, although more of a question, what\'s that block of care next to his face?

30-03-2007, 08:01 PM
uh if you mean the piece of card right in front of his face then i think it\'s a piece of armour. I also think that the bolter strap should be made out of gs. It would look way more natural and it could stay where it is or move. your call.

30-03-2007, 09:02 PM
Yeah the piece of plasicard in front of his face is armour, to protect his throat and jaw without restricting too much neck movement. I tried making the strap out of GS but my skills lack and it just came out as a sausage.

31-03-2007, 04:14 PM
Just a minor quibble.

A slung rifle generally hangs with the magazine downwards.
This is usually because of gravity and the points that the strap is attached to the rifle.

It also allows the bearer of the weapon to bring it up and fire more quickly...

Sorry to be such an arse...loving the armour though!

31-03-2007, 05:56 PM
oh yeah! i just notice that. If you look at any kind of war movie or tv show they always sling their guns so that the mag was facing down. like you wouldn\'t hang a thompson over your shoulder with the mag poking you in the back or coming over your shoulder. maybe you should give the gs another go if you decide to change the guns position.

31-03-2007, 06:17 PM

Not just in films - in real life too shock horror
When I am eating my lunch in the field I dont like to be poked in the armpit by the mag of my slung rifle!!!

31-03-2007, 07:05 PM
Well the thing is that he is actually running, you can see that the strap is sliding down his shoulderpad so obviously the gun won\'t stay in a perfect position. Also the bolter is a gun unlike any other modern gun so therefore it would hang differently in the first place.
I\'m not going to change any of the model because I sprayed it before anybody had commented about changing anything on the model

31-03-2007, 07:21 PM
Scolar Visari wrote:

just a minor point, but you should really try to get less defensive about things, the above comment is a \"weak\" excuse, thats only ever really used when theres no good reason

they make valid points and you should consider them for the next time, all realism comments are a part of the hobby, whether its sci fi or not, they are still moving human beings(or creatures) which follow the rules of physics/kinetcs

its a nice conversion, and quite unique, be proud of it, but be open for criticism and change

31-03-2007, 08:40 PM
Perhaps we should all get less defensive about our work eh Starks?

As a matter of fact that point you just quoted wasn\'t me being defensive. I give comments on people\'s work and when somebody gives me criticism I do actually listen.

02-04-2007, 08:31 PM
The boltgun is not like a lasgun or autogun. Why? Because it is alot heavier. Where is this wieght? At the top of the gun no less. This is evident by the \'boxy\' shape of the boltgun. The designers don\'t make a shape like that unless it contains components, especially on weaponry.
Rifles such as the lasgun are alot lighter with the bulk of the wieght as the magazine, thus the magazing hangs downwards.
The straps attach to the bottom of the boltgun so the natural hanging position is with the magazine upwards.
Members may have had experience holding guns such as the SA-80 but that is a rifle, not a boltgun.

If you disagree then good for you, PM me. I am merely saying my view.

07-04-2007, 04:36 PM
Another exciting installment of what I am modelling! This time it is a witch hunter inquisitor, to lead the army I plan on making, but is getting painted for a store painting competition on the 28th. Alright pictures I guess

I\'m not 100% happy with the bottom half of the red, so I might re-paint it soon. What do you guys think?

07-04-2007, 05:15 PM
it looks good so far, the one thing i suggest is brighter highlights, you can mix in a combo of the following: dwarf flesh, bronzed flesh, fiery orange, desert yellow, elf flesh

I myself use bronzed, and add in a tad of orange if it starts getting too pinky or yellow

^^thats for the red

the black(cant see it very well cuz of angles) but i think you could go a bit brighter with it as well, and dont worry about how much highlight you place, as long as you have your colour placement properly, it will still look black

Looks pretty good so far! :) I like the red... What do you think is wrong with it?

He\'s armed with a force sword and incinerator, right? I love that combo...

07-04-2007, 05:35 PM
Aha thanks guys, I knew I needed brighter highlights but didn\'t know what colour I could add so I\'ll do some brighter highlights very soon.
Yep it\'s that nasty combo, I was going to go for a power stake option but decided against mutilating his hand :P

07-04-2007, 07:51 PM
Ok update time, the red has been better highlighted by adding desert yellow. I actually quite like these pictures for a change :P

I was quite confused when I began to paint his eye only to realise the eyeball was a hole instead

what do you think? And shall I go for a leathery brown for his cloak?

07-04-2007, 08:01 PM
red looks much better...brown coat would work for me, dark leather though

The Warsmith
08-04-2007, 11:30 AM
Lol really nice. has everyone gone inquisition mad?

08-04-2007, 12:41 PM
I would go for a dark brown leather coat also, it wouldn\'t be an inquisitor without at least some brown somewhere!
But looking sweet dude very nice higlighting indeed, and the face looks rather nifty also (I hate painting faces...I really really do). Also like the base, is he standing on a door? Very inkeeping with the hereticus way of working.

Lol really nice. has everyone gone inquisition mad?

You have to be inquisition mad to prove your worth! Otherwise they might come!

08-04-2007, 01:00 PM
Thanks guys, the red cloth is the best I have ever done I must say. The face was a pain to highlight properly because it was such a small area being restricted by the collar, neck guard and the hat. Look out for more updates later today!

08-04-2007, 02:05 PM
Looking very good, impressive work on the red. I now it
is quite a difficult colour to work with! A dark brown
leather should realy work with this guy. Keep us updated!

The Warsmith wrote:

Looks like it, even I as a devote Chaos guy have turned
my attention to some Inquisition model :P

08-04-2007, 05:49 PM
Update here. I\'m wondering whether I should go with a darker brown for the cloak/cape thingy

08-04-2007, 05:54 PM
Really like that colour brown, a darker shade would
probably work best on the cloack/coat. It should help
create a bit of contrast with the red, while at the same
time keep the model tied together.

08-04-2007, 10:52 PM
Wow I\'m on a roll tonight, ANOTHER update! This time all his inner body is now painted except for a few pouches. Next I will work on his cape/cloak thingy

This was my second try at gold nmm, what do you think?

08-04-2007, 11:02 PM
See this is why i hate you...

Loving the NMM mate! Keep it up :)

08-04-2007, 11:07 PM
the NMM chest piece needs softer transitions and more transition, the belt buckle has the shine, the rest doesnt, you might need some darker greys in addition to more transition and maybe a tad brighter highlight

the gold icon on his chest needs a brighter highlight i think, or at the very least a darker shade

08-04-2007, 11:11 PM
The chest plate is smoother in real life, but my pure white final highlight probably still had some grey left in it. So I will add another dot.

the gold definitely needs some work, the skull =I= is just so damned small!

thanks guys for the comments and tips

I really must try and paint something properly soon... :( You guys are putting me to shame!

Look forward to the finished product!!

That looks sweet. The dull look of the armor feels gothic, awesome. Nice job on it.

Look another miraculous zoom in! (http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h305/necrontyr2000/Witch%20Hunters/Witchhunter010.jpg)

The brown on the glove and hat came out a little differently, probably because I forgot whether I only used bubonic brown to highlight or if I added bleached bone

10-04-2007, 05:31 PM
I always loved the inquisitor models, I\'m about the get
painting on one myself. Your mini really has me excited
to get started, really like how your choice of colours
is working out. Dark and sinister, just the way an
inquisitor should look!

28-04-2007, 07:16 PM
Hello all, I come with great news! I have actually finished that with hunter inquisitor, yay

Big pictures here (http://s67.photobucket.com/albums/h305/necrontyr2000/Witch%20Hunters/)

Sorry for the bad rear view, the shyniness is probably caused by the fat store manager who held the model by it\'s torso in the painting competition today  . Unfortunately I didn\'t win a prize, although I was told I would have won if I\'d entered the under 16s instead of giving the over 16 category a shot.

When I make a collaged view for CMON I shall post the improved pictures up here.

What do you think?

Hey all! I have surprised myself today by actually finishing a model, only yesterday I didn\'t have any motivation to paint whatsoever.
Well anyway after about 2 hours I guess today I finished the rest of this lass, to go in the witch hunters army I really hope I can stick to and complete. There are mistakes on her but as she is only a grunt I couldn\'t be bothered to fix them.

These pictures are as zoomed in as I go!

20-05-2007, 09:42 PM
looking good, a squad of these will be great next to the inquisitor\'s retinue.

Captain Castus
21-05-2007, 06:49 AM
Nice! A bit of extreme hightlighting on the black armour (especially on the backpack and other edges) woyuld make it even better!

Look forward to the whole squad!! :)

25-05-2007, 10:54 AM
The hair needs highlighting, as does the armour and the face. The eyes are yet to be done. The grenade needs a wash. The boltgun barrel needs to be drilled out. OTher then those she looks fine so far.

25-05-2007, 08:31 PM
The armour, hair and face all have at least 3 highlights. Which can be seen much clearer in real life. The eyes won\'t be painted because that was the look I was going for, I didn\'t just forget to paint them

25-05-2007, 08:53 PM
It looks to me like she has her eyes closed in prayer to the emperor I like it.

05-06-2007, 03:43 AM
Ok so I have decided to have inducted Sisters of Battle in a Vindicta marines army. These the the two latest editions to the Vindictas, there will be 5 in this squad and will probably be given a Razorback to ride in.

Only Greenstuff filling needed to be done, and of course some highly extravagant sand bases!

05-06-2007, 03:46 AM
Nice and dynamic with a nice and different multimelta. Paint it!

05-06-2007, 03:49 AM
Nice work there mate,

Anyways it\'s a damn fine sight to return to my friend, i love this....teach me...msn...tutorial...anything!

Nice work Niall :)

06-06-2007, 02:51 AM
It\'s easy nik, you just need a grenade throwing arm and make a mess of drilling out the multi-melta barrels and you are half way there!

Bit of an update, both are now fully greenstuffed and are awaiting three more marines to be converted

06-06-2007, 03:02 AM
Awesome work there. I love that meltagun arm, it\'s really unique. Can\'t wait to see the other models.

Now if only I could master Green Stuff...

06-06-2007, 03:28 AM
aye, I agree- it is great work

Excellent work mate... Dynamic poses and a great big gun! Ace!

08-06-2007, 06:51 PM
Even though I prefer standard multi-meltas, I have to admit it looks pretty good.
Very dynamic poses here, can\'t wait to see them painted;)

08-06-2007, 07:20 PM
Thanks guys! It was just a simple conversion that would work for heavy bolters, flamers and mostly all other special or heavy weapons available to marines.

I expect to start painting them after my GCSEs finish, so next saturday probably

15-06-2007, 02:06 AM
I was a bit surprised today finding a parcel that came from France much faster than one being delivered from Nottingham, so I thought I would start on one of my new model\'s bases. This is a mercenary assassin from Rackham and will act as one deathcult assassin

Expect some updates tomorrow

15-06-2007, 03:40 AM
Gakking amazing model.

Nuff sed.

Captain Castus
15-06-2007, 01:47 PM
Agreed! Very nice... Dynamic... Can\'t wait to see it painted!

15-06-2007, 01:54 PM
Thats a great model! Could you post a link to it? I might get one and paint it up all super... Have it for display, or convert it a little for 40k, or find something it can represent for my fantasy army... Probably some kind of mercenary.

Anyway, great model, and it should look super once your done.

15-06-2007, 07:56 PM
Chaos Warlord definately. I\'d use him as a slaaneshi, he\'s look awesome.

20-06-2007, 05:06 AM
Ah sorry bout not posting the link sooner, didn\'t realise you had asked :P . Anyway here it is assassin (http://www.rackham-store.com/boutique_us/fiche_produit.cfm?type=633&ref=UKMESP01&code_lg=lg _us&pag=1&num=22) but he wouldn\'t fit in as a chaos lord because he is better proportioned than GW made models. And so is smaller and thinner than bulky armoured figures. He fits in perfectly with the human sized models though!

Aside painting that fellow I\'ve done a test model for an Alpha Legion army I may do. I like it, hope you do too.

You can actually see the blur increase as you go down through the images :woohoo:

20-06-2007, 10:17 PM
Not sure about the fluff behind the head, but i like the armour and boost on the feet

21-06-2007, 12:50 PM
Nice work there Scolar, looking really good. I have to check though as the blur doesn\'t answer a question, but is that GS rear of the head hair? If so that could be really good looking, or is it the top of a cloak?

21-06-2007, 05:39 PM
Yeah it is some sort of hair/fur drape I gave him to make him look meaner :P , not sure whether I pulled that off or not though. Gotta get new paints and brushed before I can paint him, but I should have some assassin updates later today.

23-10-2007, 07:49 PM
So here is where the thread went to!
*puts away staff of threadomancy*

I\'m in one of those moods \'I don\'t care if the pictures aren\'t great, I am posting them anyway\' and want to show you the Champion of Battle I\'m working on. Havn\'t painted anything on him for about a month but plan on finishing him soon

I need ideas for more freehand on his cape and ideas for his dress colour please! Also some C&C :)

23-10-2007, 07:57 PM
Scolar wrote:

the armour could use some more contrast to make it show better, ummm the face could use some colour to bring it to life and some brighter highlights in the area around the head to create a focal point

ummmm, as for freehand, what type of effect do you want, you say champion of battle, is he still a warrior priest? because you could go for the more priesty type filligree...if hes a more general type you can give him say a mural, or a symbol(like coat of arms type thing)

as for dress colour you could keep it the same brown as the cape, but of course the cape need more contrast(dont know whats all done on it, i figure its \"done\" if you are doing freehand already so) ;)

23-10-2007, 08:23 PM
Hmm I shall have to get better photos, there is tonnes more contrast everywhere but these pictures drown them out. I\'m not sure what went wrong with these images :P

06-01-2008, 10:59 PM
Here I come, dragging this thread from the abyss! I have FINALLY got the painting inspiration and I bring a picture of my latest work - I have entitled him Mace Guy as his Rackham name is far too long to ever type out.

I'm practicing my technique of metallics a lot more with this 'Guy', interested to know what you guys think of it so far - I know there is little painted.

06-01-2008, 11:06 PM
Lookin good! :O

The metal is v nice and detailed, as is the robe.

You and your bro have a unique way of painting, you can soften your colours really well.

Gj :)

06-01-2008, 11:06 PM
Isn't this Kyrus.....could be wrong, my Rackham knowledge is a bit dusty;)

Looks really good, great depth which I know from experience can be tough to achieved with earthy colours.

06-01-2008, 11:15 PM
The depth of the metal is very nice. Great success!
I take it you will be adding other colours into the shading of the larger metallic areas?

06-01-2008, 11:22 PM
Ah thank you! depending on how much progress I get on Kyrus (thanks Heph ^^) then a bigger picture will be posted, a tad less blurry too I hope.

Ocelot I was planning on taking inspiration from the way Rackham painted this guy, so green and purple hues in the metal. But we will see how it goes!

07-01-2008, 01:47 AM
An update here, pretty impressed with the speed I'm painting this guy at. Just finished the inner robe and most of the belt, next work will start on the metallics for the head, neck and belt.

What do you think?

07-01-2008, 05:39 AM
Your blending is nice and smooth and the robe has good contrast. I suggest darkening the bottom edge of the belt more so it fits with the dark shadows on the metal and in the recesses of the robe.

08-01-2008, 01:42 AM
Ah, the robe is coming on really well, though i'm not quite sure if you went a little too light on your last highlights...might be the lighting/camera so can't be sure. Other than that lookin good mate ;D Belt needs another colour/layer IMHO too =)

Captain Castus
08-01-2008, 01:52 AM
Looking great! Agree about the belt though...

Look forward to more... Keep it up!

05-02-2008, 02:15 PM
Painting of Kyrus stalled due to lack of inspiration :( ...Can't say I'm surprised really!

Anywho I finally got motivated to begin a new army, this time it is a 500 point Space Marine force, using some models from my Vindicta Marines patrol. I am painting them to 'table-top' standard because I know if I spend hours on each marine then there is no chance of a finished army.

I present Bike Squadron Meckavek of the Imperial Venerators (unless the name is taken  )

Still undecided on the chapter badge - it's the hardest thing for me to design. So any help on that front would be great :)

What do you think?

Nice work on the bases.
As for the badge my only advice is keep it simple.

maybe something to go with the winter theme, or a sword and shield? who knows

Lightning bolts are great for badges. You can say its a throwback to the Emperor's original symbol or something.

Try some fluff, it can work wonders for making a badge work for you...

Whilst chatting to Ziggy on MSN we've had the idea of a hammer on top of a white templar cross, as the chapter is a successor to the Imperial Fists. Let's see how it goes, my freehanding skills are terrible :P The fluff is in the early stages but I'll post it here if I make any progress for you lot to rip apart :D

I\'ve been out the hobby for a while now, I really need to get a squad or even an army (shock horror) completed!
I thought to myself yesterday that I needed to learn some new painting techniques instead of feathering every last peice of armour and cloth...it really makes me go mad :P

On this fella I started off on the chest plate testing out glaze painting, then I liked the effect so much I thought I\'d finish the entire marine. I\'ve tried to go for a deep shadow effect here, onto the pictures!

The chest plate skull will become bone at some point and I\'m going to use a catachan head for him. Any ideas for what hes holding in his right hand?

C&C demanded :P

22-03-2008, 10:12 PM
Looks great Scolar, perhaps a knife with the blade pointing fown for the other hand?

28-04-2008, 02:08 AM
And I\'ve stalled with the blood angel painting

Well I\'m back into the routine of painting display pieces and this time it\'s the repaint of the WIP warrior priest earlier in this thread. It would have been the rackham Kyrus model but I\'ve lost him

So far I have repainted the face, the cape and the NMM on the chest - neck and his left shoulderpad.

The face is blurry for some reason but it still shows the colours and blending as it it IRL (I r t3h 1337)

I think the \'golden\' skull on the centre of the neck guard needs painting silver. I\'ve never painted nmm gold and trying it out on such a small area just made it look messy.

Would love to hear your comments/crit \'cos I\'m looking to put him on ebay in the future!

28-04-2008, 02:22 AM
nice work scolar! liking the NMM, and the blurry face works, adds a sort of ruggedness to him.

28-04-2008, 02:52 AM
I\'ll get some better pictures tomorrow morning - hmm that reminds me I need to get photoshop again..

Planning on buying a High Elf lord next week so I hope this thread will be flooded with updates :)

Thanks for the comment!

Very nice Scolar, your skill continues to impress me! The silver is, as always, a true thing of beauty. Are you keeping the gloves and skirtthingy the same colour as the belt? This as I think that a slightly different tone of brown for the gloves would add even more detail to the mini.

Thanks mate!

I think I\'ll go for a grey/white skirt, as it is there is no contrast between the cape and the underskirt. the gloves and belt will probably be painted the same as the cape.

Very nice my friend.

I love the NMM, the cloak is so realistic, and the face is just pure \"rawr\".

Have some Karma :)

Great stuff!

You make me wnt to attempt NMM... Which is probably bad for my sanity... :pinch:

28-04-2008, 01:13 PM
Looking good so far, I think a grey for the dress will go with the mini better than white as it is still a contrast but works with the browns already on it.

29-04-2008, 03:34 PM
Progress on the warrior priest goes well, I\'ll get some more pictures of him when I get a bit further along.

Also picked up this High Elf Lord for a painting comp (same one Ocelot is preparing for) and tried a very different base for me. I hope you all think its marble when you look at it!

Its been suggested to use PVA on the base to make it shine slightly and give it more depth just like marble in real life, I\'ll do that when the elf is finished though.

What do you guys think?

The Commodore
29-04-2008, 03:37 PM
Certainly a good start mate.

29-04-2008, 03:52 PM
All of your great painting really makes me feel like going and getting a cool model for painting as a show peice...

Thats a great NMM breast-plate up there! A great paint job all around.

As for the marble... When I first saw it I thought \"Lightning, cool! Must be some kind of special material.\"

But, it does look like marble when you mention it... Its just not whiteish like normal marble so I didnt make the link.

Hello, thought I would post up what I've been working on the last two weeks....

Warhammer fantasy! :O
I've returned to fantasy battle after 5+ years of 40k - I'm pretty bored of the 40k fluff nowadays and I guess that's why I never finish armies.
This time should be different

Here is the first of two Bull units in my upcoming Ogre Kingdoms army, I will be getting the rest of the 1k force for my birthday on the 22nd hoping for a completion data of late June early July.

http://img152.imageshack.us/img152/7938/ogrekingdoms002eg3.th.jpg (http://img152.imageshack.us/my.php?image=ogrekingdoms002eg3.jpg)

http://img152.imageshack.us/img152/7290/ogrekingdoms004wg2.th.jpg (http://img152.imageshack.us/my.php?image=ogrekingdoms004wg2.jpg)

I plan to convert a Bruiser and Butcher from the leadbelchers box and other bits I have floating around, in my list I only use 2 leadbelchers.

Being my own harshest critic I think the pictures show up every little flaw. But then again these are only gaming models!

Nice to see some new work Scolar. Ogres eh? Yes they are a good army...

In a weird sorta way..

Fantastic paintjob though, your skills are impressive.

15-05-2008, 07:51 PM
They look really good, the slight variations in skin tones work well. As gaming standard minis they are great.

15-05-2008, 11:05 PM
Thanks for the comments.

Planning on ordering these grass shades (wild honey and burnt grass) from woodland scenics, should tie in the brown-ness of everything on the ogres.

16-05-2008, 04:23 PM
Nice stuff Scolar, no crit really. Personally I would add warpaint, but that is entirely my own personal preference.

17-05-2008, 09:12 AM
I'm not settled on a tribe name yet so warpaint is still an option. I think i'll wait until more ogres are painted before I write some fluff about these guys.
Thanks for the comment, I love comments :)

17-05-2008, 08:06 PM
With the first unit of bulls out of the way, the next ready for priming and ironguts purchased for my birthday I thought I would treat myself to some display painting again :)

Back to working on my store Games Workshop 'golden daemon' entry. I am determined to try new things and make this elf my best piece yet.

Onto the pictures (which are actually very good)

The axe blade has only one side of it painted - I used only glazes for this starting from a dark grey tone so it took flipping ages but it's pretty darn smooth if I do say so myself. The shield was wetblended from regal blue to a 50/50 skull white regal blue mix. I thought that was too old edition for my liking so darkened and messed it up with scorched brown and black glazes.

What do you think? Open for all comments please, I find the lack of comments and views on this thread to be distressing :(

17-05-2008, 08:20 PM
Well I'll comment just because you asked so nicely! :P

What you've done so far on the elf looks really good, if all the model is to be painted to that standard it's bound to at least catch the eye of the judges.

I am very impressed and looking forward to seeing more.

17-05-2008, 08:23 PM
Good amount on contrast, I can't get that sort of contrast. I thought it was metal when i glanced at it, needs a little bit of tidying up then its great. Should be a killer model when it's complete

18-05-2008, 12:54 PM
veeery nice. I love the ogres, i always wanted to paint a beefy model, like orks or whatever. Might give it a go. Have some karma for being awesome :P

The Dim Reaper
18-05-2008, 01:00 PM
Very nice, I'm liking it. i can understand why you would want to dirty up the blue a little bit bt for some reason I think that a brighter blue might be slightly more eye-catching than the darker more sinister look. No matter, thats only my opinion...

Anyway rep for you when you finish.

18-05-2008, 01:12 PM
Thanks Dim, Solinus, Cheeri0 and Ocelot!
Finished the other half of the blade this morning, took 45 mins.

I'm not really happy with the 'scratches' on the shield. Might have to dull them down a lot...

Sweet NMM on the axe :P

18-05-2008, 06:50 PM
Oooh! Nice! :) Time consuming isn't it?!

18-05-2008, 08:10 PM
Looking good, its brighter than the other side as well which is a nice touch as it is facing upwards.

Keep the blue theme going, the shield should be fine without brightening it.

18-05-2008, 09:55 PM
Thanks for the rep and the comments! :D

Last update for today, painted the inner 'skirt' and right leg. Although I think the leg still needs some touching up. Took me forever but I think they both look good.

The face is bland and flat. A repaint will happen tomorrow!

18-05-2008, 11:45 PM
The blue looks very nice, i like how it's an electric blue, but i am a sucker for those :P

Contrasts well with the dark silver, well done :D

Wow, that elf is amazing especially the axe and leg wich are some of the best NMM i've seen in a while. You will definatly catch the judges eyes with it.

19-05-2008, 07:37 PM
Bigger update today, got most of the lower half painted and tried out gold nmm. It still needs work but I'm getting there I think.

I'm hoping the elf looks less multicoloured when the top half gets some paint as well.

Comments and suggestions welcome as always.

19-05-2008, 07:40 PM
Hmm, see how the red works when the rest is painted, it might need to be changed to a grey or white.

29-06-2008, 08:16 PM
Hi guys, made no more progress on the Elf but managed to finish a competition Death Korps (who hates being photographed so I'll try and get a good one later).

Been working on a Dragon Ogre winter themed for a few hours. Here is my progress!

http://img390.imageshack.us/img390/2685/display018si7.th.jpg (http://img390.imageshack.us/my.php?image=display018si7.jpg)

Theres a bit more shading that the lamps washed out
The piece of muscle just above the pecktoral is the smoothest so I'm pretty proud of that bit although more work needs to be done with the rest of the arm. Just gonna keep working on him and see how it goes. I may enter it into golden daemon this year but I'm really only aiming to make it past the first phase of judging not place or anything.

What do you think guys?

29-06-2008, 09:12 PM
Looking good so far, a little more smoothing for the shading in places is needed but once that is done it will look nice. The rest of the skin this colour will look great. I have an idea for the scales, maybe a washed out pink? That would tie in with the albino look.

I have one of these sitting on my shelf that I've been meaning to paint for ages!

Nice start on this one... Great blending (I guess the pic probably doesn't do it justice)...

I'd go with ice blue for the scales... Cliched perhaps, but nice and cold! ;)

Phew! I just went all 25 pages and I must say you are an amazing hobbyist. Man just looking at all the hard work you put into them is making me tired :)

Can't wait to see the Shaggotth. But I'll give you some REP to tie you over ;)

01-07-2008, 07:03 PM
I'd go with ice blue for the scales...

See? Blue again! Smurfs are invading the fantasy wolrd now XD

Just joking, I also think Ice Blue scales would be fitting with the winter theme. I would tend to leave pink for Tzeentch or Slaaneshi Shaggots.

12-07-2008, 08:57 PM
Thanks guys, comments really keep me motivated! Blue has won the battle for the scales so I'll update with a picture next time I work on him.

My second foray into fantasy is marked by 10 completed Vampire Counts skelingtons on their very own home made movement tray. They will get ten more buddies soon enough but next on the painting table will be a Crypt Ghoul unit. Aiming for a 500pts mini army comprising of 20 Skeletons, 10 Crypt Ghasts and a nasty Vampire. I really want to add a unit of Cairn Wraiths and Black Knights though so a larger force might be in order!

Painted an entire skeleton boxset in 5 days including building the tray, that has to be my best record yet! :)

Hoorah! :D

Great work on those Skellies...

Make sure you keep posting pics... I always like to see your stuff! REP...

Great job on the skeletons, the metallics in particular look good!

13-07-2008, 12:35 PM
Thanks guys

I've changed my list a bit and have gone for a Wight King on skeletal steed to lead my army, I'm kinda theming the army to be a 'tomb awakens' so only skeletons, crypt ghasts and etherals - no vampires meddling in my business!
The problem is i really want to use a unit of Black Knights (http://uk.games-workshop.com/storefront/store.uk?do=Individual&code=99060207032&orignav=13) to ride with a Wight King (http://uk.games-workshop.com/storefront/store.uk?do=Individual&code=99060207029&orignav=13). As you can see these models aren't great and don't fit in with the new range at all. Do any of you know of other sites that sell better looking mounted skeletons that I could use for these units?
