There are times, even when you're as cute as the wee lads above, that you just need a little, extra firepower. This situation is mostly likely best summed up by the Orks in the Warhammer 40.000 universe when they violently chant 'MOAR DAKKA'! Automatic firepower can even be considered one of the cornerstones of Orkish culture (if there even is such a thing), bigger and faster really do seem to be better. Not in the least as the Orks need every little advantage to compensate for their lack of aiming ability, then again we needs to aim when you have a minigun

For the 24th round (wow, 24 already!) we're throwing a little creativity excercise out there using the 'MOAR DAKKA'-theme. How you approach the theme is entirely up to you, anything from an actual Ork blasting away, a cynical cry in the abscence of actual dakka/firepower, an ammo dump objective marker or anything in between will all perfectly suitable! Get creative, get practical or just simple go way overboard!

1. Entries must be a single model.

2. The model must be an infantry/cavalry/bike/jump infantry/vehicle/objective-model smaller than a Superheavy vehicle.

3. One picture of the model unprimed or primed is required.

4. Three 'in progress' shots are required with a short line or two explaining something you have done to the model. Highlighting, shading, drybrushing... you get the idea. That way we can all learn a thing or two from your exploits!

5. 1 - 4 completed shots of you model. If the thread gets too big I will move them to another with just the completed models for judging.

6. The contest will end on March 23th with voting taking place over the weekend of the 24-25th, after which the crew can start planning the next, and already 25th, Rumble or Stumble for April.
(No voting for yourself)

The winner gets an infantry box set of their choosing. Previous winner, Foxy, can enter but can't win this round, but can win next time. Can't have him kicking our collective behinds two months in a row now can we

I think I might enter an Eldar Grav support weapon... Is it okay if I enter the crew alongside it? On the grounds that an imperial guard weapons team is three models on a base, whereas a support weapon is on its own and not looking terribly inspiring. Even one of the crew would be fine :) Thanks :)

Captain K, please keep the corner out of my head... I may or may not have a 4 railgun Dreadknight battlesuit conversion idea floating around :dakka:

(If you've seen Mobile Suit Gundam 00, imagine Gundam Seravee - 2 Shoulder Mounted, 2 mounted under the arms/against the waist section. Hell, I could add 2 more by mounting them ON the arms themselves... :dakka::dakka::dakka:)

My idea is a plaintive cry of 'Moar Dakka! Moar Dakka! My Waaaagh for Moar Dakka!' Luckily the box of bits that I bought from a friend has a load of interesting odds and sods in it, and I already have the bare bones of the model put together.

Are there any rules about base size? I want to use a 60mm Dreadnaught base for a model that would ordinarily go on a 40mm base for gaming purposes.

It doesn't really matter though, because I don't stand a chance!

I'm in, well starting off with my primed photo's. Going for Tau Dakka:dakka: Broadside style with slight change to the standard mini, handheld Railguns, an extra knee bend, and plastic large smart missle system. Its no monster with four railguns, but should be able to lay some across the battle-field smack down.

This is the model I plan to enter in the RoS. I like the idea that he has exhausted his supply of ammunition for his big shooty gun (see the spent shells and empty magazines) and has had to resort to using a pair of puny Grot revolvers. He is screaming 'Moar Dakka! For Gork's (or Mork's) sake, someone bring MOAR DAKKA!'

Agreed, nice little diorama! Only bit of crit from me – the gun in his left hand looks a bit 'high up' in the pic – i.e. floating slightly. Is that the way it's mounted or just the pic? Or just me?

Pig, that is awesome. I love the attention to detail when it comes to the empty magazines - really nice stuff.
As for the shoulder pads? A man's shoulders can never have enough protection... Or spikes. I like it!

That's a great model Pig!

Here's some progress from me (click to enlarge):

9839

Armour is finished and all the metal is done as well as a few chips on the armour. I had a stab at nmm on the gems on the weapon; it didn't work so to you lot it's just wraithbone or something. Also have to do the hair and base the model.

Pig
16-03-2012, 08:07 PM
I'm glad that everyone likes my model! I just finished GS work on the back to build a shirt and straps for the shoulder armour.

Edit - WIP photos, as promised.

http://img542.imageshack.us/img542/1214/baseo.jpg

http://img14.imageshack.us/img14/3118/rorswip3.jpg

http://img13.imageshack.us/img13/7160/rorswip4.jpg

The base is all finished, mainly being painted, stippled, dry brushed and washed with Fortress grey/ black mixes over a black undercoat. The shells were painted in Tin Bitz and highlighted with Dwarf Bronze. The gun was painted in a mixture of metals, and washed with Badab black (on the stock end,) Baal red (on the barrels) and Devlan mud pretty much everywhere.

I have put a base coat of Calthan Brown on the trousers, Knarloc Green on the flesh, and a blue basecoat mixed from Necron Abyss and Skull White on the tabard. The Bad Moon icon is base coated with Iyanden Darksun and Dheneb stone for the teeth and eyes.

I am a little bit confused as to what colours to use now that I have built that massive shoulder armour harness! I am thinking Boltgun Metal for the rounded shoulder pads with curved spikes, the outside of the exterior top shoulder pads, the middle bit with the icon pole sticking out of it, and the under layer of the interior shoulder pad, and dirtied yellow for the interior spiky bit of the exterior top shoulder pads and the top layer of the interior shoulder pads. I hope that makes sense!

I'm looking forward to seeing more entries.

Orkgasm
17-03-2012, 06:18 AM
Told ya the Devlan/Baal Red combo would work a treat on those metallics...that base is looking awesome, Pig! I'm sure the rest of the model will follow suit!

Well, I think my entry is finished now. I added another layer to the highlights on the skin, with more Bleached bone in the Knarloc Green. I tried to shade the teeth and claws a bit more, finished the skull on the base (forgot about it entirely in the last photos,) and tidied up a couple of things that needed it. Might not be the time or thread to say but I wonder Pig if your ork skin could do with a couple o' washes? In these pics it looks a bit pale. You may be going for that look and if so ignore me, it does look well painted. I'm just thinking would a Thraka Green and Gryphonne Sepia wash give it more... oomph?

DAG + Yellow - Highlight
Add more yellow - Highlight
Add more yellow - Highlight.
Green wash

Add a touch of white to above mix - extreme highlight.
Wash Blue

I'll be stepping out of this one, I just haven't found the time/effort to fix up the mounting for the Supa Kannon this week.

Nearly done ladies and gentlemen, about half a day left for late entries. After that we'll get started on the voting!

I am a bit sad that there were so many people having to abandon their entries, but I am pleased with the quality of the ones that did turn up to Rumble.

Nice work on that Ork Foxy - I like the way you do the Death Skull checks, and your technique for Ork skin also looks great.
