For those of you potentially interested, I picked up the Heavy Gear Blitz "Interpolar War Begins." starter set and wouldn't you know it, it just came in the mail so lets take a look and unveil this sucker!
First off I would like to point out that Heavy Gear Blitz is an updated version of the original Heavy Gear Miniature game. Dream Pod 9 has decided to switch to a 15mm level game, now I do not know where they sat before BUT in order to make this streamline process go over smoothly they aggravated a few folks in the change over process. *Though, what is new these days anyway.* So, onward and upward we go!
As you can see, everything comes in a very nice box with some beautiful images to reference from right on the top. This box set when it came out retailed for about 100.00 U.S. currency but at the time of my purchase I found one on ebay shipped to me from Canada for about 60.00, pretty good deal so I could not pass it up!

Next up in this exiting little walk through we come to the opening. Inside I found a G.P. Squad of mech's for the main two factions represented, first was the Northern Force and second was the Southern force. I am sure they have much more exiting names and from what has been read thus far, quite a bit of fluff to ingest and enjoy but right now I will keep everything simple and fun. The other goodies I recieved with this purchase was a couple of flimsy tape measurer's and a set of specialty dice and markers for the game which was very nice. The final item found within was a copy of the Locked and Loaded rulebook in its black and white printed format. Supposedly there is also a rather beautifully put together color version BUT since this rulebook comes with everything needed and is the exact same minus color pictures I can assure you I am perfectly content with this book. The printing is very nice and easy to read, plus the pictures in grey scale are still very enjoyable to look at so for the cost it is quite a deal.

As this little thread continues on I am sure I will post some pictures of the inside of the book, as well as a thickness set up and other nice little goodies with my next post set after building the squads.
Of course here are the aforementioned dice and marker set that also came free of charge.

So what is in a General Purpose squad box, or any squad box that comes from Dream Pod 9 for that matter? I can tell you a nice lot of well organized items, that is assured.
A G.P. squad is a squad of 5 mech's that can be given all sorts of different loadouts and other such things that are not as important to talk about just yet. What is important to point out here is that the blister case that everything comes in is ORGANIZED PER MECH! That is not a joke, they took the extra effort to put each Mech's basic loadout into each of the first 5 bubble slots and reserved the 6th for the extra guns and hexagonal bases. Now that to me screams class and makes someone who feels a little burnt about recent events exited again to purchase from a company that takes the extra two seconds to do something that would seem trivial. Also contained within the box are card readouts to make looking up stats and other things during the game much easier. My one gripe with the cards are that, at least in the Northern loadout, the squad leader Headhunter card felt printed on nice cardstock but the normal Hunters were printed on straight paper... alas at least the company encourages reprinting of the cards to allow for the wear and tear through many a gaming event.

All in all, I am very impressed and encouraged by this, it seems to look like a game that will scratch my mech/futuristic war itch while also being on a scale where terrain is comparable with games such as Flames of War so everything can be interchanged.... hmmm WW2 with mech's .... *deep thought moment*
ANYWAYS, I just wanted to let everybody in on this 5 minute little romp into Heavy Gear Blitz and will continue to update *most likely, more frequently than my 40k stuff* and give everyone on here a little look inside of the box for this set, look for future updates that include built mech's and perhaps a few "Get to know the game." battle reports.
For now, this is your friendly neighborhood Bishopp! Hope you enjoyed!
