My first unit of legionaire has been ready for war for a while now but I forgot to make a gallery for them until now. A second unit is well under way being completed as we speak and will soon join their battle brothers here...

For now; unit one

I do love the look of these Legionnaires!

Only thing I can think of to potentially improve it is some decals on the shields. That would be really time-consuming, mind...

Very nice, are they Warlord games by any chance.

I go for smaller models but these are nice.

I have a few 28mm legionairres did you get decals in the box?

Here it comes a custard cream from me (Repage)

Have look around and you can see some of my 15mm stuff, so are you using Hail Ceaser for the rules then?

Cheers guys, I have never had much success with transfers but once I have got everything painted, (so I can actually get a game in!) i might go back over them and add the decals and an extra level of detailing...

Kharn; they are indeed Warlord Games models, i've seen your 15mm stuff and am very impressed! Actually i've been mostly playing Warhammer Ancient Battles 2, as this is a neat segwe into ancients gaming from warhammer, which i've been playing for ever! A mate of mine has the hail ceaser rulebook though so I'll be giving it a go at some point.

I have the hail ceaser rulebook, although I play warmaster ancients there are a lot of similarities. I would be interested in hearing how a live game goes. The ones in the rulebook seem to go very smoothly, but then they wrote the rules.

I look forward to seeing your legion grow and are you adding any Auxilary or Cavalry. Hmmmm barbarians I must go look for some naked british scares the snot out of the Legion....

Very nice painting, I tried to frrehand some shields and at 15mm it looks not too bad but I would never try it at 28, my painting aint that good.

I will be watching the your legion closely and I hope they win many games unlike mines that hate me with a passion....

Yeah i've got some auxiliary cavalry on the work bench at the moment...

I've also got a whole celtic hoarde already painted up, there are some piccies in the gallery somwhere!

Nice work sir, I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of your legion.

The might of Rome is growing!

I have completed the second unit of legionaire

And taken some close ups so you can see how quickly they really have been painted

and an 'army shot' of both units together

Next up will be a unit of veteran legionaire! The veterans have no pilum (spears) and will have red clothing where these have white to help distinguish them on the battlefield... They are currently on hold while I go paint shopping and paint a landspeeder for my space wolves!

Very nice.....

Do the vets have all the bandages and extra bits of armour just like the Warlord Games box.

The highlighting on the armour is good.

Now you just have to wait until you post those pics of the vets and I will give you another custard cream (REP).

Now I need to scuttle away and paint an Ongar for my 15mm stuff!

Cheers Kharn, The vets are indeed also from warlord games... I am a bit of a warlord games junkie I suppose now seeing as all my ancients stuff so far comes from them!

loverly job hwd,it's nice to see a bit of historical figures for a change ,
a decal on the shields would have been nice but i think you made the right choice in not having any as it could've distracted the eye from the figureIMHO
