View Full Version : Objective Counters

Our Gaming Group has been playing combat patrol games with the Rules Of Engagement (http://uk.games-workshop.com/warhammer40000/rules-of-engagement/1/) (RoE) mission generator.

Part of using the RoE system is having Objective counters. The suggested counters in the article are impressive but impractical.

The rules indicate that the objective counter doesn\'t block LOS nor does it provide cover. The examples look like things that should do one or both of those things which makes it a little counter intuitive.

Another problem I had with the example objectives is that when they are placed they can scatter. Many of the example counters would not be capable of being placed in another terrain piece, which could happen with an inopportune roll.

So I came up with a better idea. I would cut Icons representing each player\'s army from card and put them on some spare 25mm bases I had handy. This made them small and easy to place, even in most impassable terrain features.

Here are the results:

Pictured above are the Icons for my Space Marine Chapter (Storm Bringers), My Ork Army (Yellow Toof Waaagh!), and a WIP Biel-Tan Icon for one of our Eldar players.

Since we\'re still playing small games we only need one Icon per army but when we graduate into larger games I\'ll make another set for the secondary objectives, this time with Blue edges to differentiate between them.
