BFG color-scheme help

Hey guys, some of you might know that I'm a big fan of BFG and have been for some time. However, until recently I had never really had anyone to play it against. Now, though, a wave of BFG-ness is sweeping through my local club. So, with my fleet out of the reserves I am now looking to paint them, and that is where I run into trouble.

So what I am l looking for is a nice simple color-scheme that is nonetheless effective and pleasing to look at. I was thinking something relatively grey tone (a la real world navy) but I don't know how to really make that stand out. Does anyone have any thoughts on what to do there- or indeed ideas for other color schemes that I should consider?

Help would be most appreciated!

Well I can get you a picture of mine to help you up. My two fleets are painted quite different from each other. The first is the classic dark green with white prows. The second fleet of mine are grey, with red prows. Yes, both of my fleets are Imperial. I'm thinking of getting a few Imperial Fist Marine ships to compliment my fleet aslo.

Thanks mate. Well that first one doesn't look half bad to me- perhaps with a dark wash that could be brought closer to the colors I am looking for. How did you do that first one?

Basically. Drybrush. Get all your grey paints in your range. Start with a black undercoat, and then just drybrush your way through the the different shades.
