View Full Version : Painting horses

Well guys, I've come up against a slight problem in working on the hero for the Tale of Fantasy Gamers. The problem is that I have never painted a horse before, and haven't got a clue... made all the more pressing by the close deadline.
So, does anyone have any easy step-by-step methods for painting horses in general (and black horses in particular, as I would like him to be riding a black horse)?

If you are going to paint the horse black make sure a couple of the feet have white markings called socks and if it has socks the hooves will be white where there are socks. Also most black horses if you can see the face of the horse has a star or blaze white mark that runs in the center of the face or center of forehead. Also most black horses have a pinkish white around the mouth. I know this doesn't help out to much but the markings can make it a tad more realistic.
Ossai send them to me also please firstname.lastname@example.org
ChrisSpaceWolves did a series of youtube vids on painting horses a while back, just search his name over there and you should find them.
