So chaps, I thought I'd set up a log for the tale of fantasy gamers. While some may say that it is not possible to do so much, in so little time (particularly considering that I have a 40K army to build, paint and prepare for a campaign beginning this thursday), I say it can be! Thus, to prove my point, here are 4 provisional army lists (with or without variations) and proof that my hero is under way:

I think that's all the lists I bashed around for this. I am, of course, as ever open to any suggestions anyone may have. I've also posted them in an appropriate thread here (http://www.astronomican.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17851).

Now, for the bit you're all waiting for: the proof. Well, here be the proof that my hero choice is underway. The Empire captain that is included in most of the above lists, and is included in a fair few variants not posted above is my hero choice for the first stage of the tale. Because of his pre-eminence, the bonus points for conversion, and the general coolness factor I want in this model, I've decided to convert him.

So, update 2:

Progress continues, albeit slower than I would like, on the hero choice captain. That said, he IS coming along, and I firmly expect to finish him off in the course of tomorrow. I also plan to start painting him then, and then finish him off on Monday, thus neatly getting it all done inside the deadline.

I am currently stuck with the second armored arm, and shield, as well as the question of what head to use. None of the ones in any of the kits really "work" for me, and I'm not entirely sure as to whether my idea of using a skull design from a banner really conveys my intent of having it as a "face-mask" style helm. Thoughts?

Well, here is the promised update:

I was able to catch the, now completed, captain who will by my hero choice for this month (I've got tomorrow and monday to paint him, so time is short :grin:) in a group of models I sprayed earlier today. So, now I am right back on track for this month!

I've decided to go with the head from the empire knights champion, while I am using an armored arm cannibalized from the same kit, while the shield is a cut down sergeant's shield from the Space Marine Terminator sprue. Add some bitz (a few sowrds, a pack, a pistol, etc) and voila!

Well, for me it is now 14 minutes into March 8th, giving me only today to wrap up this month's task. That said, I'm pretty much done- all that really remains is to write the short paragraph with some thoughts and insights, but that's easy enough, right? :grin:

Despite the fact that, for TOFG purposes, this is "completed" in that it meets the requirement for a minimum of 3 paints (there are 11 I think: chaos black, shining gold, dwarf bronze, tin bitz, boltgun metal, mithril silver, scorched brown, dark flesh, bestial brown, codex grey and adeptus battlegrey), I will be revisiting this model down the line, perhaps toward the end of this week.

I am considering going over some of the details to make them really stand out, as well as changing the color of the horse garment. Despite thinking that a black horse with a black garment would be a good, and fluffy, idea, I think it lacks a bit of contrast. Not sure what I'll do there though XD

So, all that remains, then, is a paragraph... look for that here come the morrow ;)
