View Full Version : Painting the inside of a Rhino... (CSM)

So I decided I'm finally going to paint the interior of my Chaos Rhinos rather than leaving them black and bland. From all the photos I've seen, Rhinos have a tan-colored interior. How would I begin to paint it? Bleached Bone looks pretty obvious, but what should I use as an undercoat?

The interior can be whatever you want it to be, really. Although if you want to go the Bleached Bone route, you'll want to start with a dark brown (Bestial Brown or Graveyard Earth) then work your way up to Bone (Snakebite Leather or Vomit Brown, respectively).

Alright, thanks! Luckily I have all those colors. In my army I use squads of NMs, PMs, and Zerkers, so I was thinking the Rhinos for the NMs would be clean and ornate, maybe with small pillows here and there and art on the walls. The PM Rhinos would have the opposite, a dirty, filth-encrusted interior with rusting control panels. The Zerker Rhinos would have dried blood covering the floor and seats, since the Zerkers are so brutal and track blood from their wepons in all the time.

You could use this method (http://massivevoodoo.blogspot.com/2010/02/tutorial-weathering-wall-by-using.html) for the PM Rhinos if you can get into the main compartment with the toothpick, q-tip or whatever. Just a thought.

Here's a step-by-step (http://thepaintingcorps.blogspot.com/2010/02/friday-quick-tip-them-bones.html) for the Bestial-Snakebite-Bone. For the Graveyard-Vomit-Bone, check this little guy out (front (http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/nn12/zilities/IMG_0002-124.jpg) back (http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/nn12/zilities/IMG_0003-94.jpg)). Granted, I don't have Vomit Brown so I just mixed all the way from Graveyard to Bone with a Sepia wash or two in between. Similar look.

I used skull white primer and then bleached bone on the inside of my rhinos. If you want a darker tan interior go over it with a kommando khaki

There's a Deathguard rhino with interior detail in my Nurgle 40k gallery, and a Worldeaters one in my Khorne gallery. Also a Landraider in the Khorne gallery, if you plan on one of those at some point. Did them both in various metallics as opposed to the ceramite look you see in loyalist vehicles. Hope they provide some inspiration :)

The noise marines one should be covered in gaudy colours and full of drugs - and some massive sub-woofers ;)

I want to make a Vostroyan Chimera now and put a small LED strobe light in it. :D

But you'd have to do all the interior details yourself, or buy the conversion kit from Forge World. Although, it'd probably work with a Valkyrie.
