View Full Version : Tall's Vampire Count Log

09-02-2010, 04:44 PM
Well I don't know if this is what Warsmith had in mind but I'm going to start a log of what I'm doing with my VC.
I'm not sure how much will go in here but with the best of intentions I'm going to put all my VC thoughts and musings in here (from now on). Not much has happened in the 24 hours since we began but I've come up with my first 500 points list which I'll post shortly.
I'm not sure which hero will be painted up first as I've several that are vying for the position, I'm trying to hold off painting up Bella for now (we'll see how long that lasts eh?? :sunglasses:)

Right enough rambling for now, you'll want to see a list, well here goes.

Vampire, Flayed Hauberk, Dark Acolyte, Lord of the Dead 170

20 Zombies, Standard bearer 88
10 Skeletons, Standard Bearer, Musician 92

3 Cairn Wraiths 150

This is all I've got for now, I'm sure I'll be back later on with something else.

The Warsmith
09-02-2010, 04:53 PM
Exactly what I had planned, nice stuff man! Nasty list too.

09-02-2010, 05:21 PM
We'll find out how nasty soon enough.....

09-02-2010, 07:24 PM
Well here comes a dilemma, my original plan was to use this model as Countess Bella,

But after seeing this on Gamezones website I'm not so sure,

I really like this model, now I could use her as Bella, but then again she could be used as Genevieve her daughter. Either way I'm going to use them both it's just which way round I use them.

EDIT-I've just ordered the lower one....mwahahahaha

The Warsmith
09-02-2010, 08:10 PM
The Gamezone one looks much more ancient and evil vampiric. The original GW one is a bit dated and rubbish.

09-02-2010, 08:42 PM
The both look ace, though the lower one does have a slightly darker vibe to her.

09-02-2010, 09:10 PM
 I really like the first one Warsmith, you can't look dated when your a Vampire!!!
I think I'll stick with my original idea and have the first one as Bella (she looks a bit older) and the bottom one can be her wayward daughter.

The Warsmith
09-02-2010, 10:36 PM
Well it's mainly the old style GW paintjob, and the face.

10-02-2010, 06:30 AM
I agree, the paint job doesn't really do it justice. Hopefully I can do better, it does look a lot better in the flesh as it were.

10-02-2010, 05:18 PM
I actually think the first one, with the facial paint job, looks a bit like a muppet..! but the gamezone one looks nice and evil...

12-02-2010, 07:44 AM
We'll see what she looks like when she's painted up.
Just quick update, well more of a question really. Are Ghouls worth getting? I've some pocket money burning a hole in my pocket and was stuck between some Grave Guard or Ghouls. I've an idea for some thing to do for GG and I've got some of the old metal ones for now. So shall I get some Ghouls?

12-02-2010, 08:04 AM
Ghouls are a super solid core choice, but only in units of 15-20, ideally 20. T4, with 2 attacks each is awesome. Good Ld (for VC anyway), cheap, can be made far nastier with some bloodline powers, and the poisonous is always handy...

12-02-2010, 01:18 PM
I am going to have an army of em, with a single skellie unit. It done properly Ghouls can be devastating. Poisoned attacks and the ability to get a free march before the game starts if one of your vamps has Ghoulkin.

13-02-2010, 08:16 PM
Well, played a couple of games today with, the 500 point army listed above. Not bad at all won one, lost one (due to a ruddy miscast and a lucky snipe from a pesky wood elf) But I'm liking them lots. I also received 20 Crypt Ghouls, so they can go into the HUGE pile of models left to build/convert.
Well that's all for today's update,
except to say I've built up nearly 30 zombies and near as makes no difference 70 skellies. not bad to say it's from a single zombie box, and three skeleton boxes!!

Ta ta for now

14-02-2010, 12:13 AM
Luck...it was a planned tactic *grins*, as a side note, love your half raised models...you should post some pics of them up buddy when your unit is done

14-02-2010, 10:49 AM
Agreed, the one giving 'the bird' is excellent

14-02-2010, 12:46 PM
Faileas old boy, I'll give you 5% for the tactics and 95% was blind luck

As for the newly rebirthed Zombies and Skellies, I'll gladly stick them up once their done. I don't know about the "birdy" though as I'm sure it'll infringe Astro law, but we'll see.....

17-02-2010, 11:31 AM
Sooooooo, not much with the vamps yet, still perfecting my 1500 point list, not even started making my 2250 yet (I really ought to though)
Modelling wise I've got a few more Skellis and Zombies made up but not many, I've been doing some actual "work" at work which is upsetting  so I've been coming home dog tired (that and being on permanent days is killing me, 5:20 start 7 days a week!! Lovely)
I do however, feel that I've another Vampire model to use, it's a Freebooter model and I think it's quite cool.

Still no sign of Genevieve, if she's not turned up in today's post, emails shall be sent methinks......

EDIT - Sticking to my all female theme, would these work as a Necromancers?

17-02-2010, 11:59 AM
i kinda like the second one.. done in the right colour scheme you have got a very cool idea! since necros so low power these days, having younger looking mionins not a problem, and with a female vamp list, surrounding themselves by lasses a good idea :) did you look at avatars of war for the female vamp model there?>

17-02-2010, 12:03 PM
Yeah, Ossai's using it in his "Tale of" army, I'm not overly keen on the face though.

17-02-2010, 09:15 PM
Not sure of I like the Freebooter models....they look a bit cartoon/anime like? Esp the necro's they seem a bit 'clean cut' to be surrounded by dead.

The vamp isnt bad though.

And I do like the idea of a female theme

18-02-2010, 05:51 AM

Give these guys a look, some real top notch models that dont look like anigay cartoons.

Personally not a huge fan of using non-GW models wihout heavy convertine, at least as center pieces...but reaper really has a style very similar so it works quite well compared to most other companies. The models (at least infantry sized) are pretty spot on for scale as well.

18-02-2010, 06:34 AM
I've looked at Reaper stuff before, I don't really like the female Vamps. But I do like their heavily armoured stuff I can see a Wight King on foot in there somewhere!
@ Faileas, the thing with the Necro's is that their women so they wouldn't let themselves go as badly as the male one's would (well that's my thinking) you've also got to bear in mind how I'll paint them up should make a big difference.

EDIT - I did find this one which might make another good Necromancer,

and I think I've found a new Black Coach (seeing as my other one had a visit to the chop shop and ended up as a War Shrine)

18-02-2010, 04:55 PM
Really like that second necromancer mini, looks like fun to paint as well. So how's the mini search going, perhaps our manufacterer overview will be of some extra help: link (http://www.astronomican.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17033).

18-02-2010, 08:11 PM
Cheers Heph, I presume your on about the witch? The search still continues for a good mounted female Vamp. I'll be having a good look at those sites tomorrow at work cheers!

19-02-2010, 08:06 AM
Well double posting is becoming a bad habit at the minute, ah well needs must and all that.
So an update on Genevieve/Leonora, I got a message yesterday stating the model was out of stock but had come back in stock and was being sent out yesterday (18/02) so yay!!
I've got my lists up on the boards as well so that's that bit done, they aren't exactly brilliant but they'll do for now.
1500 (http://www.astronomican.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17651)
2250 (http://www.astronomican.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17675)
Feel free to have a look.
Now I really must decide if I should paint Bella as my hero model (I was waiting to do her as my lord choice) or hope the Gene turns up for the weekend......

19-02-2010, 12:35 PM
I like the black coach, mainly its the horses that sell it for me. I dont like the coachman, but the necro from the corpse cart would work beautifully...

19-02-2010, 01:16 PM
Yeah I'm not sold on the driver, but I do also have the wraith from the black coach so that may work as well.

The boss has just messaged me to say the Genevieve/Leonora has arrived! Wahooo!!!!

20-02-2010, 10:44 AM
*Grins* Looking forward to seeing updates on her this weekend buddy.

Your lists look good, I was mentally working out in my head how I''d have to combat some of them...not a easy task

20-02-2010, 11:00 AM
You'll need plenty of luck, which unfortunately for me you have by the bucket load.......

20-02-2010, 11:27 AM
A good general makes his own luck *grins*

20-02-2010, 12:01 PM
or prays to the lady ;)

21-02-2010, 10:57 AM
I've started on Genevieve, to see what I've done so far feel free to click HERE (http://www.astronomican.com/forums/showthread.php?t=15282&page=34) post 332 I believe.

21-02-2010, 11:19 AM
Ahhh gotta love the purple :D

22-02-2010, 07:22 PM
Just remembered another nice female vamp - Avatar of War stuff :

22-02-2010, 07:36 PM
Heph, go take a look in my log ;)

25-02-2010, 08:27 AM
I got bored trying to come up with a skin colour so I did some Skellies.......

I know I wasn't supposed to start them till next month, but there are plenty more where they came from......trust me.......

25-02-2010, 09:05 AM
those are looking good tall, is it me or is the skelly on the far left in the front and the skelly one over a lot lighter then all the others?

25-02-2010, 09:16 AM
Could be!! Cheers Barndoj, I think it's down to the drybrushing, I hadn't noticed to be honest. I know one of them has a blue tint (I didn't clean my brush properly and it bled into the Bleached Bone :silly:) I quite like them actually, I'm pleased with the bases the most though. I tried out a different way of putting the sand on and it came out looking like damp mud, which works really well with the ones raising themselves out of the ground.

25-02-2010, 02:53 PM
Now that is an excellent looking formation, particularly due to their 'rising from the field'-vibe.

25-02-2010, 03:12 PM
Nice going sir.

25-02-2010, 04:04 PM
Cheers chaps, I'd made most of these up years ago, I've only just gotten round to reanimating them. I made them so the the first rank was a full skeleton then each rank after was going further into the grave, it looked good in bare plastic I pleased to say their looking even better with some paint slapped on.
Is it particularly geeky to be excited over how your models turned out???

25-02-2010, 04:16 PM
And what was this new basing technique? :p

Good looking skellies sir.

25-02-2010, 06:07 PM
I was thinking that Ossai *grins*

Fantastic looking skellies buddy, they look even better with a crisp paint job like that

25-02-2010, 07:39 PM
That would be telling..............
But seeing as it's you lot, I basecoated the base in Scorched Brown the based it with sand as normal then mixed up some PVA with water and a touch of Scorched Brown into the mix, it goes messy at this point. Paint the mix onto the sand, wait for it to dry and then apply a wash of Devlan Mud, it dulls the shine from the PVA but leaves the base looking moist.

28-02-2010, 09:24 AM
Well as a swan song to painting at work (We've a new client taking over on Monday so I can no longer paint at work. BOOO!)
I thought I'd finish off Genevieve. I've done her skin but I'm not convinced on how it turned out. The idea was to make it blue/purple tinted flesh. I think the biggest thing is my expectations far exceeding my abilities with a brush.
Well here she is please, please give me C&C on the skin.

I know about the heavy shading on her "rear" I've touched that up.

28-02-2010, 12:40 PM
If you look in HERE (http://www.astronomican.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17811), you can see her finished.
(The red isn't as bright in reality)

28-02-2010, 02:18 PM
Aye the challenge of taking pics of minis that have red and purple on them.

I came across some more female vamps if you're interested - link (http://www.reapermini.com/Miniatures/Necropolis)

28-02-2010, 02:30 PM
The one with the whip is pretty cool. I think I might get it.

28-02-2010, 02:32 PM
Cheers Heph, the Aysa model,

would make a wicked Banshee/Wight Queen.

28-02-2010, 02:45 PM
Ooh me wants..!

28-02-2010, 02:57 PM
Indeed, awesome model that.

28-02-2010, 05:23 PM
Tall, it worries me as to how much work went into her rear...

28-02-2010, 07:02 PM
Not as much as I could have spent dear boy, not by a long shot.........

02-03-2010, 02:39 AM
Bloody insomnia, ah well I did come across another few female vamps or minis that could be used for this purpose in the cmon shop (http://www.coolminiornot.com/store/) while searching for an old mini:

Really like this one:

Witch queen:

Dark Elf Priestess (seperate head!)

Female sorceress:

Female anti-paladin:

Another great one, female assassin:

The Warsmith
02-03-2010, 06:42 PM
That assassin is amazing!

02-03-2010, 07:37 PM

I have to agree the assassin is an awesome model. That first one is tempting me to get rid of the model I have for Bella. Although I can't find it.

02-03-2010, 07:40 PM
Agreed that is one awesome mini.

02-03-2010, 07:56 PM
Aye the agony of choice, still at times it is better to have too many than too few choices.

She can be found here - link (http://www.coolminiornot.com/store/product.php?xProd=3342)

02-03-2010, 08:48 PM
Cheers Heph, she really is a sweet model.

07-03-2010, 09:58 AM
So I've knocked this up really really quickly, will it pass muster??

I know the posing isn't brilliant I was trying to use bits I'd not miss if it didn't work out.
I've basically given the skull a neck and swapped over to skeletal hands.

I've put this here to keep up to date with my log.

Vulpus Rex
07-03-2010, 10:53 AM
Looks like it could use a little bit of Green Stuff to fill the gaps, but apart from that it's looking like a great kitbash. Is this what the whole army's going to look like?

07-03-2010, 11:27 AM
Well not all of it as I've got 70+ 6th edition skellies, but I'm going to lean towards it I think yeah.

07-03-2010, 07:05 PM
Think it looks fine, I know you where worried about it looking too fleshy but he looks like many film type skeletons ive seen, and suits the part fine.

07-03-2010, 07:21 PM
If nothing else, they'd make great grave guard

07-03-2010, 07:34 PM
Looking at doing Grave Guard, I think they're going to be easier to make. But till I get a shed load of these made up I'm going to use them as GG I think.

Cheers Faileas, he turned out a lot better than what I thought he would considering it took less than five minutes to knock him up.

08-03-2010, 05:21 PM
Seems to work pretty well bud.

08-03-2010, 06:05 PM
Don't forget to take care of those pesky mold lines! ;)

They'll look good as Grave Guard. The extra detail will help distinguish them from other undead units on the table. And it'll be a chance to practice painting rotting flesh, or very pale flesh

08-03-2010, 06:11 PM
They're off to be skellies, I'm going to use them as Grave Guard to start with until I build enough of them. But I've some irons in the fire for the actual Grave Guard I'll be using.

13-03-2010, 02:33 PM
Well, now that the 1st month is out of the way it's on to grunts.....
I've just finished making up my first 10 new skellies which will form part of the new vanguard for my VC. I've already got 70+ 6th edition built up and I've started painting, but they looked a little dull so I'm going to replace them all (eventually) with examples like this little lot.
I know they're pretty rough and not all the mould lines have been removed but the glue is still curing so I can't do anything about it as bits will drop off!!
Apart from that, C&C always welcome. Oh and idea's for an Empire colour scheme would be much appreciated.

13-03-2010, 02:52 PM
Ah these guys look so much better than the normal, uhm bare bones, skellies. For some reason the combo of Empire and VC skellies bits always reminds me of Sylvannan forces, something I always approve off ;)

13-03-2010, 02:55 PM
looking good dude! like the idea a lot. are you going to use greatswords as graveguard with greatweapons?

13-03-2010, 03:10 PM
I'm looking into the Grave Guard at the minute, I think I'm going to use the actual GG models mixed up with Greatswords like I have with these skeletons.

13-03-2010, 03:38 PM
nods.. that would make sense

13-03-2010, 04:03 PM
They look very nice, you should be dead chuffed with them!

As for colour scheme, perhaps the green and yellow? would be a nice contrast to the dark VC colours...

Blue and Red would be good too...

13-03-2010, 04:13 PM
Cheers mate, I was toying with green and yellow, but ten thought about pale blue/bone or pale blue/grey for a more ethereal look. I'm really torn for choice.

13-03-2010, 04:23 PM
Split it. They don't necisserily have to come from the same place, you could try for a mixed choice with some of each...

Or, if you are going to have more than one unit, each unit being a different colour...

13-03-2010, 04:27 PM
I could do, but the theme behind the army was that they'd taken over a city.

13-03-2010, 04:30 PM
Ah...well, you could try to paint one of each, see which one you prefer and give the other a nice bath.

13-03-2010, 04:55 PM
Mmm, I could do, I don't like doing testers as I usually end up liking them all. At least if I only do the one I'll like it and stick with it

14-03-2010, 09:30 AM
At least if I only do the one I'll like it and stick with it

Unless it looks like crap.

14-03-2010, 10:21 AM
Told you buddy these would look grand *smiles*, Im liking them a lot, Already spoken to you about colours so would post em here. Can't wait to see these guys crumbling into dust *winks*

14-03-2010, 10:41 AM
Faileas, I'm going to waste my 1000th post just to say

14-03-2010, 10:45 AM
I could lend you the Empire uniforms book if you wanted some inspiration.

14-03-2010, 11:06 AM
Faileas mentioned you had it last week, I meant to ask if could borrow it from you.

14-03-2010, 04:00 PM
Oops, continuing with the tradition of double posting in this log. Here we have the labours of another productive day at work.

14-03-2010, 04:15 PM
Good grief I need to get a job like some of you guys, free time how I miss thee!

They look excellent, the extra skellie bits on the ghouls really help make them look more in place with the rest.

20-03-2010, 01:13 PM
Well folks, another weekend at work and another painting update. Just a small one for now.
Here we have the first of my Ghouls of the production line.

20-03-2010, 01:24 PM
suitable nasty looking :)

20-03-2010, 06:37 PM
Very nice indeed, the eyes really creep my out...so it's spot on

21-03-2010, 02:52 PM
You've got the flesh colour bang on buddy, looking very good

21-03-2010, 03:22 PM
I love it! Creepy,rotten-looking, decrepid... why blue hair though?

21-03-2010, 03:22 PM
And then there was five.......

Glad you like em.
Faileas, I cheated in the end and used the rather old school "Ghoul Grey".

Japhelio, I don't know to be honest it was going to be grey, but then I gave it a blue wash and thought they looked pretty good as it contrasted well.

21-03-2010, 03:45 PM
one thing I would do is try and tone down the red on the cuts/scars in particular, at the minute they are rather in your face, even a very light drybrush of fortress grey over them would help IMO...

21-03-2010, 11:00 PM
I like the blue, it's kind of funky.

21-03-2010, 11:10 PM
If you have multiple units of them, each can have a different color. Blue for this one, red or green for the other? Perhaps...

Looking good! It looks like you did some OSL on the eyes. Confirm/deny?

22-03-2010, 08:50 PM
Looking good! It looks like you did some OSL on the eyes. Confirm/deny?

I had a go at something along those lines yes.

03-04-2010, 02:32 AM
Here we have the next thrilling instalment of the ghouls.

I'm particularly pleased with the one that's carrying his little corpse comforter.

03-04-2010, 04:24 AM
So my fellow posters, what do you think of the colour scheme?

It's a very rough WIP at the minute, as you can tell.

03-04-2010, 02:39 PM
more colors and contrast please, just too much blue and blue for me

03-04-2010, 05:37 PM
Aye, the top cannibal did indeed turn out fantastic. Very gruesome and disturbing, as they should be.

Edit - hadn't seen the new skellie yet. I rather like the 'cold' feel to it, though as Tallarn said some contrast would make it even better. Though I guess the leather and weaponry could serve quite nicely for that.

03-04-2010, 09:25 PM
Those gouls do look cool, and the er 'dolly' is very nice.

04-04-2010, 04:41 AM
Cheers mate, he won't go to bed without it!!

04-04-2010, 10:21 AM
Wow! The Ghouls look amazing - really scary :p And I love the 'corpse comforter' - kinda looks like he's carrying a gruesome teddy bear or something... I really like the eyes, they're very effective in standing out the way they do. The only thing I'd say is that while the purple of their cuts and guts make for effective contrast, it is perhaps too much contrast to remain in keeping with the 'dead remains' look Ghouls and Zombies tend to have. Having said that I can't really come up with another alternative except for perhaps toning it down a little?

I agree with Tallarn, some contrasting colours would be good. I don't know much about Warhammer Fantasy, but Empire and Bretonnian soldiers always seem to have highly colourful heraldry. Maybe throw some yellow in or something?

Hope this was helpful

04-04-2010, 09:56 PM
I like the redness of their wounds, they look like they're all angry and infected, well that's what I was going for.

04-04-2010, 10:06 PM
I agree with Tallarn, some contrasting colours would be good. I don't know much about Warhammer Fantasy, but Empire and Bretonnian soldiers always seem to have highly colourful heraldry. Maybe throw some yellow in or something?

Given that they're ghouls, this might be hard to do (they don't wear clothes :p). Although, this does mean the bases will need some sort of color. Give those bases some attention!

07-04-2010, 02:23 AM
The ghouls look fantastic! Well done on the eyes, very creepy, and you've pulled off the gore-stained look nicely, I think. In fact, the first thing I thought when I saw them was "Woah!" and I give REP for things that make me go woah, so have a nice cookie!

In addition, I think that test skeleton needs... Something else. He's entirely too bland at the moment. You might try adding a second color to his uniform as a way to make him pop a bit more. Make it a bright color, like a white or a red.

Anyway, good work on this stuff!

07-04-2010, 08:22 AM
I think, to be honest I picked the wrong model and should have used one with some armour. I think I'll try the same scheme but on one with the chest plate to break it up a bit.

14-04-2010, 11:43 AM
So my core choice is all painted except for six bases which will be finished tonight, I've also started on the classic Issabella von Carstein model for my hero choice.
http://www.games-workshop.com/MEDIA_CustomProductCatalog/m1440239_99060207016_ColVladIsabellaMain_445x319.j pg

Not the best model in the world but I already had her. I've painted her dress in a deep blood red but I'm just wondering what to do her cloak in. Darker red, purple or black, any thoughts from the interwebz?

14-04-2010, 11:47 AM
Copper! :p

What sort of red do you have on the dress? Blood Red, Red Gore, Scab Red...

14-04-2010, 11:50 AM
It' a base of scab red, with a 3:1 baal red, leviathon purple wash then highlighted with scab red, red gore highlights.

As much as I'd love to "bronze her up" I may leave that for my Goldfinger tribute model....

14-04-2010, 11:55 AM
That new Space Marine statue could use some bronze

With a dark red like that, I'm leaning towards black. If that doesn't look good, it's just a black basecoat then :p

14-04-2010, 11:58 AM
I've put a black base down but I don't think it's going to look right. I'm going to give her black gloves I think but If I give her a red cloak then I can call her the Red Queen, but I dunno if it would be to much.

14-04-2010, 12:13 PM
Have you thought about a dark red cloak and a brighter red for the dress?

Disclaimer: I'm not good at picking out colors!

14-04-2010, 12:18 PM
I like the red on the dress, and I don't think it would be all that hard to do a darker red for the cloak with a bit more purple in the wash mix, that and I'll be working up from black instead of white.

14-04-2010, 12:24 PM
Sounds like a plan. Devlan Mud is another good wash to use for darkening reds.

Ok so I've got this months pledge done all ready, would you like to see them??

Who said no!!! :p

Here are my core, another 10 ghouls making 20 in total (I love painting these models)

Ghasts x2

and my hero, formerly Mrs Von Carstein but now she's known as.......
The Red Queen.

Excellent stuff, great to see that old vamp mini as well. She still looks the part, despite being quite an old mini already!

15-04-2010, 07:20 PM
The vamp model looks great buddy, the only part im not keen on is her face?, its seems to lack shading? (may have just been the flash though).

Love the spot on the ghouls head, also you put to shame getting them done so fast! ive only undercoated my choices!

15-04-2010, 07:46 PM
Yeah the lighting was a bit naff as I was fighting over the camera with Logan! She does look better in the flesh, which as a strange glow about it.

15-04-2010, 08:58 PM
Done in a week? Are you trying to shame us?

15-04-2010, 10:06 PM
Done in 3 shifts mate so about 16 hours of painting all done.

02-05-2010, 06:38 PM
Well here is my attempt at some "ethereal" style Skellies, what do you lot think?

The idea was to have the skeleton looking as though it was in ghostly clothes and then haunting the armour, if that makes sense.

02-05-2010, 06:54 PM
Certainly an interesting look, I like them. Those white leggings sort of remind me of surgical stockings, its like a bunch ov evil hospital staff are coming to get you. Please make a version of Nurse Rachet for the unit champion

02-05-2010, 08:48 PM
I think they look pretty cool, they certainly have a unnatural glow/feel about them.

the 3 together look good. I can image a unit looking nice and a bit different.

I know interest is waning with the tale of, but I need your help folks, please vote in the enclosed poll as to which shall be my next Lady Vamp.

Number 1,

Number 2,

12-05-2010, 09:51 PM
Number one gets my vamp vote, the second looks more witchlike/necro to me......Like the pose on one too.

Seconded; excellent choice, that number 1.

12-05-2010, 11:22 PM
Is the second one from Malifaux?

13-05-2010, 07:03 AM
I think it's a freebooter model

13-05-2010, 07:57 AM
id go with number one, 2 just doesnt seem right for the rest of the army. i like the glowing eyes on the skellys, very ghostly!

13-05-2010, 09:50 AM
What about this one?

13-05-2010, 02:16 PM
Right, because I'm an impatient sod and can't find another viable vampiress model I've gone and ordered the 1st one as it looks like she was the most popular. I've also ordered myself a Wight Queen model. So soon these two ladies will be added to my harem of the night........

13-05-2010, 07:12 PM
What about this one?

I like that one.

13-05-2010, 09:51 PM
good choice on the wight queen!

09-06-2010, 01:18 PM
Well it's been a while since I started these, for some reason I didn't enjoy painting them as much as I thought I would. But any way my Grave Guard are done.]

Here is my latest Vampiress as she stands at the moment, the dress is a lot redder than in the photo.

I bet your camera has the White Balance set to Auto. That will play all sorts of games with the colors, so set it as close to your light source as possible. If a fluorescent lamp, use the fluorescent setting. If sunlight, use Daylight. So on and so forth.

09-06-2010, 04:00 PM
Here she is finished, still looking purple even after changing the settings.

09-06-2010, 04:04 PM
looks good dude :)

09-06-2010, 04:45 PM
Looks a bit better. What colors did you use for the reds?

09-06-2010, 07:03 PM
I like the eyes :D

09-06-2010, 09:29 PM
Cheers chaps, as for the red it was a base of Mechrite red, then washed with a 2:1 purple/red wash mix. Highlighted with red gore and scab red the another wash this time 2:1 red/purple then i think it was a final highlight of 2:1 red gore/blood red, then finally a red wash.

11-06-2010, 12:16 AM
I like the little touchs of green on your grave guard, contrasts really nicely with the blue/white.

15-06-2010, 12:10 PM
It's the start of the Cart.....

15-06-2010, 12:14 PM
hmmmmm nice looking pile of corpses dude. didnt think i would ever say that.... but tis indeed nice.
