Help with Flying bases?

Hello all,

some of you may or may not have seen ive been painting a few Pegasus Knights, however Ive come a cropper with the base ideas?

Does anyone have any ideas that would make the models look a 'little bit special'? I'm not too keen on having them perched on a arch or such (I agree these do look good, but its not what I want). The only idea that i'm leaning with is a rocky type base, which wouldn't be that special *grins* but it look ok!

What about putting small stuff on it to try and give them the perspective of some height?
Do the bases blue and find someway to put clouds on them? That'd be different.

If im honest I'd been trying to think of someway to do something similar, but not sure how it would look!

One way would be to do the base light blue, and either stipple on some white clouds or use baking soda/PVA to make up some 3D clouds.

Or use the clear flying bases and stick bits of cotton wool to it on thin wire :) Maybe build up some rocky stuff and mount the vertical bit of the flying stand on top of it to give it some added elevation.
