Went to a friend's house yesterday, and we brought out a 500-point army battle. Annihilation for all three matches. No pictures, sorry. This is our first official battle, and there isn't no HQ in it, so it wouldn't be legal. Neither of us had it, but it was something we didn't care about at the time. We had a total of three battles, which I will post the results of the three in the summary. I am trying to remember everything, so please try to bear with me.

My Army
Imperial Guard:
Infantry squad: six lasguns, grenade launcher, flamer, and two sergeants.
Two Heavy Weapon Teams, Veterans: Heavy Bolters
Leman Russ Executioner: Side sponsons; Plasma Cannons; front hull weapon; Lascannon. Knight Commander Pask
Chimera: Heavy Stubber; Multi-Laser; Heavy Flamer for Hull mount; and Hunter-Killer Missile

Friends Army
Tau Empire:
Firewarriors: 11 Firewarriors, 1 Team Leader; Photon Grenades; Pulse Rifles
Kroot: Kroot Rifles; 10 Kroot
Crisis Battlesuit: 2; muti-melta; burst cannon; targeting array
Hammerhead: Smart-Missile system; Rail Gun

Winning the roll for the first one to start, I deploy my troops and tanks.

IG Deployment:

We used a three foot wide, six foot long table. We used the side, which gave us three feet to fight on. IG deploys infantry squad in trench, the two Veteran Heavy Weapons Team in the two bunkers, one on each end of the table. Chimera and Leman Russ Executioner side by side behind the Infantry squad.

Tau Empire Deployment:

Deploys firewarriors inbetween their base, and the hills to their left. Leaves them in open space, which is a big no-no. The Crisis Battlesuits are both put out in the open, in front of the barricade. The Hammerhead is put at the corner of the Tau Base, aiming at the Executioner. Kroot are deployed behind the hill.

IG Turn 1:

Using the Executioner, shoots the Crisis Battlesuits with Executioner cannon. The two are killed, and removed. The Chimera opens fire on the Firewarriors, and almost takes out the entire squad. The infantry fires, and finishes the Firewarriors off.

Tau Turn 1:

Moves Kroot in front of hill, and fire at the Guardsmen in the trench. Thankfully, and with a lot of good rolls, two sergeants allocate two wounds, one for each. Uses the Hammerhead to shoot the Executioner with Rail Gun, and immobilizes it.

IG Turn 2:

Sweep up the rest of the Kroot, and able to wreck the Hammerhead with the Executioner.

Imperial Guard: Three dead Guardsmen, Immobilized Executioner
Tau Empire: 12 Firewarriors, 10 Kroot, Wrecked Hammerhead, two Crisis Suits

Overall, I really destroyed my friend's Tau. It was odd for me at first, because his army was a half size bigger than mine. I was expecting for me to be cleaned off the table. Though, what really did damage was that I had a lot of Plasma weapons, and about seven blast template weapons, which cleaned up the Firewarriors.

IG Comment:
Thoroughly baffled at the victory, but nonetheless victorious

Tau Comment:
Admits stupid mistake about putting troops in open, against Plasma blast templates and all firepower.

Really, the other two, the Tau got more casualties against the Guardsmen. The second one, it killed five Guardsmen, and a Heavy Weapons team. It scared me when the Kroot jumped my troops in the Trench, and gobbled them up. They proceeded to assault the Chimera, resulting in a shaken. Then, second turn they destroyed a weapon. IG turn, I let loose the heavy flamer on those damn things, and killed a good lot of them. IG come up as victorious once more.

Third battle was a bit more intense. I started to receive more casualties, as the Firewarriors moved into IG territory. I thought I was lost. However, shaking the Hammerhead with the Executioner, bought some time. I instead used the Executioner to kill the Firewarriors, and with the main turret killed the advancing 9 Firewarriors.

Basically, I got a lot of good rolls. On the scatter die, I know that I got a 4 out of 6 chance of getting the target hit side when I rolled. My opponent kind of had bad rolls, because his Hammerhead always got two's and one's, which didn't do a lot of good. Never destroyed my tanks though. Sorry if this is confusing, it is my first time. Any help on organizing would be okay.

What kind of infantry squads you using? Normal squads are ten men by default. Unless you're using some kind of Forge World codex or something...

[edit]
Sorry, just read that this is kind of an informal game.

Yes, it is informal. Neither of us had any HQ, so it would have not been a 'legal' game. Which was fine, since we both didn't have any HQ.

Well, he charged with 10 Kroot and gobbled the Guardsmen up in the trench, and then jumped the Chimera. Each Kroot had three attacks in assaulting, and had crew shaken, stunned and also, I don't know if I mentioned it, a weapon destroyed. That gives about thirty attacks in an turn.

Yeah, they did more than the rest of the units. He had them move through a forest, and then they ran. He rolled only 3", moved during the movement phase next time. Then, assaulted the Guardsmen, which didn't stand a chance. Then went to the Chimera next. I couldn't shoot at them, since they were locked in combat.

I ignored them, thinking that they wouldn't reach my troops that fast. By God, they scared me when they got the Guardsmen and went to the Chimera. Then, I let loose the trusty heavy flamer and wiped most of them out.
