Is anybody playing Necromunda at the moment? We are just getting ready to start a brand new campaign with about 6 gangs and some people who have never played either Necromunda or 2nd Edition 40K. We had a kind of re-cap getting to know the latest rules set and teaching the new guys how to play. Was quite slow going, but got the Necromunda bug back.
I'm an old hand at Necro, and it will be nice to start fresh after a few years break - Cawdor through and through. The legendary Steel Shadows gang I ran in my early teens have been recruited into the Guard, enter The Preachers! (or maybe The Hangmen - I haven't decided yet!)

Go for the Preachers, much more Necro in my thoughts.

There is not a lot going on with Necro, forgotten by GW but not by us. I have an enforcer gang I am working on. Makes a change from my oiled up Goliaths.....

I run Delaque myself. Go on the Hellborne!

Also Mushasi I think there's a Blood Bowl tourny happening in my local GW. Tis the season for specialist games!

I love me some necromunda, only problem with it is that it is very outdated. Needs updating. But it is a fun game with a group that is willing to play out a campaign.

We've got a web page set up that we're gonna use for things to do with our local club, and I plan on using it to post a monthly news letter detailing the shennanigans going on in the campaign. I wrote a load of fluff for a setting a while back. Don't know if any of you have already seen this, but does anyone what to tell me what they think of it?

I run a Delaque gang called The Stacked Deck. They raided an imperial guard depot once. :D

Oh I give a lot of Rep......

They worked alongside another gang and split the loot. My gang leader scored a set of carapace armour from the deal. The heavy bolter emplacement took down about half my gang, but no injuries so serious that they couldn't be patched up.

The next week we were back at each other's throats.

Right then, tonight's the night - the opening game of the brand spanking new campaign! My Cawdor gang, the Preachers, versus a Scavvie gang who are currently named The Omega Incident. In the campaign at the moment we also have an Orlock gang named the Night Stalkers, and there will be a Redemptionist gang who are yet to be named.

A question I'd like to raise is that of WYSIWYG in Necromunda - I always believed that it was quite important to be be able to see clearly what kind of fighter a model was (Leader, Heavy, Ganger, Juve or Hired Gun etc) and what they were obviously armed with, like close combat weapons, basic or heavy weapons. A couple of the guys in our campaign aren't going to be using Necro models. They won't even be using 40K models (the Orlock gang will be converted Catachan Guardsmen, which is fine in my book) - one guy will be using Starwars models - Bomoo clan warriors, with Bobba Fet as a Bounty Hunter (obviously) and the other guy will be using WWI British Army models - I think this is really wierd, and wonder whether I should say something if it proves really difficult to identify what and who everyone is - I don't really want to double the length of a game due to having to ask every time what a model represents.

I have already mentioned that I have 2 gangs apart from the one I'll be using which I'm willing to lend or sell if people want to be able to paint and convert.

What do you think of this and how would you deal with the situation?

i had the same problem when i was about to set up a necro campaign at my club, no one was willing to shell out for actual necromunda models except me, and the only other guy who was remotely interested insisted he could use converted csm's as redemptionists...he wasn't a good converter ><

so my goliath 'muscle beach mugs' went un-fought...

a necromunda campaign is one thing i'd seriously love to play, not got much love for the 40k game anymore, its too big and unweildly, hence the love for necromunda. anyone ever fancy organising one near me and i'm definately in!! theres an incentive for my local astronites!

Eternus, i'd recommend using necro models as much as possible, not only for the identification which is key, but also the games themselves, it would feel so much better if your cawdor are actually fighting orlocks, scavvies etc rather than ww1 british troops and star wars figures...

This is my feeling exactly, but I don't want to create any ill feeling at the club if people want to play but aren't willing to sort out a proper gang. I can see that either the campaign will go on hold until people sort out suitable models - either Necro or suitably converted 40K, as some of the guys are decent modellers - or people insist on using other models that make it damned awkward, in which case we struggle or give up on the idea - if there were more people taking part, it would be less of an issue, but there are only about 5 or 6, so if 2 aren't using the proper models, that's a 3rd of the roster.

This is not a problem I ever had first time around with Necromunda - ahh the good old days.......

Necro models if possible, but I wouldn't begrudge a friend if they wanted to kitbash IG models rather than dealing with the hassle of building/converting gangers - especially with the tendency to get new and different equipment so frequently!

One of the guys has done a converted Orlock gang using Catachan Guard and bits of Space Wolves like the head with the punk hair - they look cool. It's the ones that want to use WWI and Star Wars models that I have doubts about. WYSIWYG is quite important in Necro, and it's not really fair if some of us go to the trouble of converting new weapons onto me models, but others don't even have recognisable stuff to start with.

That I'll agree with, although I can see WWI models as having "equivalent" things if he's strict about which weapons look like what. Garand always = lasgun, for example.
