Yes yes, manthings ! It's Skaven time ! Specifically, it's Plaguefurnace time, as I couldn't resist this epic monstrosity. It's way easier to paint in sections - I assembled the furnace and crew seperately, painted all the bits and stuck it together afterwards.

It;s really simple to convert the Grey Seer from the Bell parts into another Plaguemonk riding on the giant censer bit. Just swapped his left hand and head for old plaguemonk bits, swapped his staff for the warpstone clanger bit from the bell. I think it gives it a little individuality.

The plaguemonk from the front section is 10 kinds of nasty. If you build the kit as a screaming bell he'd make a great plaguelord or censer bearer.

Utterly awesome kit. I give it ten filthy plague rats out of ten.

Looks great, always a fan of the skaven empire!

That is indeed a great model! I think you have done it justice, my friend!

I love how you did the rust on the plates! Its not too over the top and looks quite realistic! How did you do it?

He he- the Warpstone looks more like a green ball of gloop/slime than anything else- but I suppose its still quite fitting seeing as though it is plaguerats!

I also like the colours you chose for the rats! They look very good!

I cant find much fault with this one! 'Tis really a job well done in my opinion!

You've got to love the green gloop

Amasing! The detail!...
Just waauuw... Brilliant and breathtaking :)

Very nice! I love this model, and you've done a great job on it :-P Brown and green such fun... <Squeek Squeek!>

Two things that bug me a bit on this guy! :-P The green seems a bit too bright, and not quite smokey enough. I think if you tried faiding it up from a green/grey it would look better as smoke. And second, on a few of the larger (cloth) surfaces, it looks like your washes might have pooled a bit too much.

Other than that, this guy is fantastic. I look forward to seeing a battle report where it rolls over some Bretonians!

Thanks guys :)
There's a couple of things I could touch up - looking at a mini at 2x size in a photo really picks out the tiny imperfections :) I like the vivid green smoke - on the box the grey looks pretty dull compared to the flare of warpstone in the giant censer.

Here's my Verminlord - didn't like the half-skull so re-sculpted it to match the other side. I like the addition of the rats all over his base :)

I also loving the the rats, details like that that lift the model to new levels *Smiles*

Love it. I need to get this model to add to my army too :-P

Question: Does he scurry too? Or does he actualy walk? :-P

I'm pretty sure all Skaven scurry :) The ratogres, the Verminlord, even the Hellpit Abomination scurries :) Speaking of which, anyone else think the inclusion of the abomination in the new rules is an awesome "go ahead, build one !" gift for us conversion maniacs ?

I like the Grey Seer conversion, thats a nice little touch. The vivid green really catches the eye as well.

The Abomination could just about be the best unit in Warhammer, will be cool that no 2 will look the same.

As normal you never fail to impress me. Excellent work there Alex!

I'm scared to build one, and I've been considering commissioning one, but not sure. I've played with it as a proxy, and its freaking insane. I'd have to agree with it possibly being the best unit!

I haven't had a chance to play with the abomination yet, but just from reading its stats in the book I can imagine the mayhem :) I'm thinking chaos spawn\ratogre kitbash with a fair amount of putty work involved.

09-12-2009, 01:25 AM
I played it! It's basically a tank... I ran it up the flank and took out 4 full units of highelves by itself... it then died... rolled double 6's and came back at full power. Definitely worth fielding.

09-12-2009, 02:32 AM
LOL indeed. It came back w/ full strength the first time I played it as well. Freaking insane :-P

And speaking of Abominations, here it is all finished. I know it's the same pics in my WIP but just for the sake of a nice cohesive gallery here, I'm posting them again :)

Exactly how it should look! Shame you had to sacrifice rat Ogres to make it though... they're so strong now...

17-12-2009, 07:14 PM
Rep Rep :-P Nasty disgusting - Abominable! Great job!

19-12-2009, 12:26 AM
Excellent work sir, I like the contrast between the brighter spot colours and the more muted tones of the rest of the model.

That is Freaking Awesome Mate, It looks Absoluting Amazing, Well Worthy of Rep :)

Keep up the awesome work mate :)
