The Duel of Two Gentlemen

or

The Incredible Husk vs The Kid Commissar... II

The Combatants:

Captain Kellen vs. Consadine

The Terms:

What our friends want they shall get!...

I challenge Consadine to a painting and modeling duel over the days of the 22nd of October through the 1st of November. We both have plans that cannot be changed so this challenge is a bit longer than the last.

Winner takes all the glory determined by a poll added after both of the final pictures have been posted. Four pictures of the final model are allowed.

A final picture of model must be submitted prior to the deadline of midnight EDT.

Posting in progress shots are not limited. If you want to post a dozen shots and/or just the final four shots it makes no difference.

You are not limited to any particular colors.

Bases of the model do not count towards victory.

You are limited to the model provided by LAZtheinfamous as posted in our first match. You may however, convert or sculpt the miniature. ;)

Heckling from the cheap seats is almost manditory. However, no pictures from the crowd please.

Comments to help each 'gentlemen' until the poll is posted is also allowed by the crowd.

This is only another example of how to duel.

now...

I still got one good eye boy!

*Finishes his secret project. Wipes brow. Sits in expensive seat*

"Come on Huskie! We want a comeback!" Gingusdan yells from the crowd as he pushes the large red button on his arm rest.

*Twenty thousand turrets of every weapon system designed unfolds*

Cackling evilly, Gingusdan pulls out a new set of Nachos, "Try and steal them now!"

*Walks in, re plugs in turret. 1,000,000,000,000,000 bullets and screams later, un plugs turrets and snips cable in half and pockets plug. Walks over to luther's blacken corpse, picks up Nachos, tuts at the word nacho and then sits down on a seat eating the last of the bag*

Good luck Kellen, good luck Consadine.

Some WIP shots for you all:

Main assembly done. I might have to pop off the base when I do some work on it, but this is it... Ayup.... just missing the arm.

What arm, you ask? This one! Om nom nom...

And here's an example of some effects I'll be adding to the finished model. Cobwebs? Yes :D

I thought the idea of the zombie contest was to take 2 identical models and paint them up to see who was better at painting...
And note: Consadine, if you're running out of time near the end of the duel... just drop your mini under your couch. that Tau carbine looks just like the one I found last night when cleaning my basement.

It's just a trick with super glue. I'll be sharing the how-to after the competition.

No progress from me today, possibly none tomorrow as I'll be trying to get some gaming in. Ho-hum...

Braaaaains.... it's done!

Blood stuffs are just Blood Red, Red Ink, Devlan Mud. Gives a semi-shiny and deep red. Om nom nom... pants are a dark red, presumably they've faded and gotten muddied up a bit. Hair has subtle grey highlights, enough that it's noticeable under normal light. The arm it has been eating is from the Catachan sprues (arm holding the lasgun by the top). Enjoy!

Excellent work from the both of you again, voting time everybody. A quick review of the minis, from my humle perspective of course ;)

Consadine:
- nice gribbly, flesh-eating zombie
- the blood and half-eaten arm are great touches
- the bone and zombie flesh look a bit similar though, could just be the pic of course
- a 'cool' base as well
- big fan of the earthy tones of this colourscheme, very grimdark...in a medieval way of course

Captain Kellen:
- really like the feel of your zombie, looks like he ripped of his own face and is still carrying it around with him...probably for sentimental reasons :D
- great job on the GS pumpkin / face-combo
- good contrasting colourscheme on the various elements of the zombie
- the bone sections seem a little flat, have you tried applying a thinned done glaze of brown or even black ink/paint?
- the lantarn doesn't seem to have the same level of details as the zombie, wood grain is a challenge to paint though. But perhaps the light/glass section could have had some more time spend on it?

As said, two excellent zombies. In the end I have to choose one of them though and, purle based on the cooler conversion, I'm going with Kellen's zombie.

So who's up next for the chopping block, if I dare ask :p

I would be up for a challenge ;)

Again they are both really good but I like Kellen's myself. The comedy effect. Both would make the front rank of my zombie unit though (i.e. the last ones to die)

Argh, I'm torn again...

In my view: Consadine's is the more serious, 'clean cut' version. It has a nice base, looks well (For the Undead! :p) but I HATE the hair, don't know why, I just do.

Captain Kellan's: It's the funnier, more sociable Step-Brother of Consadine's. It's a bit more laid back (I.e. Less serious) a good model (Fond of the latern/head) but the green-ish colour just seems so...Vomit-ish.

Once again, you give me a tough choice, but I said CK.

This does seem like an aweful lot of fun, you know what count me in for one of the future rounds. I'm rather pressed for time though, so I'd need a week (or a long weekend) to be able to convert/paint a mini!

Faileas

Id also be tempted to try something like it *Smiles* though ive only limit experiance with converting/greenstuff.....Ie no Greenstuff.

also great work laddies on the zombies :D

Hmm, decisions decisions...

Well, I like Kellen's because it's holding a lantern. (I love lanterns, for some inexplicable reason. Perhaps it's because they have fire in them?)

But I'm gonna go with the Kid Commissar's, based purely upon the fact that it's nom noming an arm... :p
