Uploading photos

Just wondering how everyone else uploads pics and tranfers them into posts.

I've uploaded quite a few photos over the years and I've always used the same method:

1) Save the pic as a .jpg/JPEG file on IrfanView which gives you the option to set the size of the file. Since the limit for uploading pics onto Astro is 97.7 kb I've always saved them as 97 kb files

2) Upload the pic into one of my albums

3) Copy the IMG code of the pic into the post

This doesn't always give a good quality picture, however, and other peoples pics always seem much better quality than mine. How do you do it?!

Use Photobucket (www.photobucket.com). Once you upload pictures, you'll be able to copy an [IMG]-tag copy of the URL ready for posting into, well, posts.

I doubt many people are even aware that pics on Astro shouldn't be bigger than 97kb....in fact, the majority of pics posted are bigger, I think.

That's pictures that are hosted by the site. The limit cuts on server storage and bandwidth. Pictures uploaded at a 3rd-party site can be whatever size.

I completely missed that (right at the top of the thread list too :o), thanks for the link Cons. I shall have a dabble with photobucket then and see if that's any better.

Photobucket is much better. Use the bulk uploader if you're uploading three or more pictures. It's pretty quick :D
