oooohhh, I like them! Its a little bit difficult to make out the details, I think you just need to work on using your new toy.

The luna wolves look especially good, but the land raider looks like it might just pip them in the detail stakes.

Greetings astronimican, on this most auspious of evening i thought i\'d take a moment to inform you of \"Project Darkwind\", my chapter. I have played with many chapter, but asides from my Blood ravens and iron warriors i rarely stick to one army. So i decided to have an army which lends itself to my own characteristics. Basically i am thinking of a A) Dark Angels Successor B) B.)Traits army.

The name gives the theme of the army, Death on Swift wings. I\'ve begun test models and here is the plan for the anitial force. (bare in mind this will be over a while, before i go to uni mind)

HQ: SOme form of captain based on something i\'d make in Dark Crusade later in the year
Librarian

Elite
Terminators (suprise suprise)
Techmarine on bike (50% marine sculpt, 20% bike sculp)
Dreadnought (probably 3, one venerable)
Assault terms


Troops:
No Scouts. Ever.
Tact Squads, about 4/5
two razor backs

Fast:
3 assault cannon weilding speeders,
3 bikers and melta attack bike

Heavy:
Pre-heresy land raider
Devasators (2 squads, one heavy B team with infiltrate or drop pod)
preditor of some form, maybe a vindictator (FW)

So.... where to begin

Have you got a close up of the marine. It\'s hard to see anything except for it uses red and orange.

yellow :p go onto GW web site and go into the marine chapter gallery under \"emperors hawks\". my colour scheme, i\'m gonna play about making it a darker blood red however

I take it you use a webcam for your pictures then. Instead of using the Nightbringer why not use the Deciever? You could make the cloth around him look more like feathers and in my opinion make the chapter master look better.

For a darker blood red you could have 75/25 mix of scab red and blood red. It works for me!

Yeah or alternitively you could paint the armour blood red then wash it with the mix thet fridge just mentioned. I did a similar thing when painting my Word Bearer champion\'s armour.

i suggest not using the nightbringer hes like 4 times the size of a marine, it would look like hes a daemon prince

as for red, blood red is orangey, so if you want a dark red start using red gore its the only red in the GW line thats actually red, scab is browny, blood is orangey as mentioned

if you want dark start with brown it will darken the reds naturally, then move up

otherwise find vallejo paints and use scar red, its a VERY nice bright red

I reckon Dark Flesh is the best GW brown to darken red and give it an undercoat. It has a slight reddyness to it.

I know starky ;) i\'ve using assault marine shins and groin with gs thighs for the base. using some half city fight terraint to boost the height for a flyer as well as to link him to the extended loin cloth i\'m workin on. look ok so far

as for red: its a 50/50 for a hightlight, 75/25 for base coat with a brown ink overcoat

you should consider more layers if hes your centrepiece

also make sure the ink is watered down big time, or it will simply turn the red burgundy, which is not what you want(well from what you said)

The challange is this:
To convert a model (painted or unpainted) that follows the theme of
\"heroic last stand\"

The miniture base has to be the 40mm (or the base you get with terminators, the larger none standard infranty base), and can be in any terrain of chosing.

The competition shall run until the fifth of november (when i shall display my own miniture ;)), the winner will receive either a black library novel or a original sculp by me*.

The rules:
40mm base, as stated
The model can be no larger than a tyranid warrior. No vechiles or monsterous creature, though this doesn\'t include orgryn and such large beasies.
Models can be only 40k.
Points will be awarded for the use of GS/ clever use of parts, but this isn\'t a requirent since not everyones rich.
You have until the fifth.

Remember remember,

*If the sculp is chosen as an option it will not include any model of the mosterous statis, only infranty and heroes. Savvy?

just take pics of it before you paint, then paint it and take more pics, im pretty sure the non painted is so he can actually see the conversion work

it also helps for good quality pictures as sculpting should be as smooth as possible and bad pics can sometimes make it look like the GS is bumpy when its not

Size is fine, but its a tad more than 2:1 scale... I tihnk you\'ll find that he\'s about 4:1 if you work it out...

I\'ve started collecting imperial fists people, and tommorow i\'ll put up some shots of my first marine and chaplin.

I\'ve finally got round the 3rd company, despite having planned to start two years ago. It\'s an all infrantry force, well i\'ll include a dread and termies, but not real tanks.

Tis as far I have gotten. Highlighted the yellow. Having to work a LOT and two kids plus a new house make for tough times in painting land. However, soon all shall become complete and your world shall crumble in the presence of the Imperial Fists 5th Company.

The concept: Three forces of the astronomican.


The maintainer:
An adeptus Mechanicus styled army, for those who like making and converting small forces and guard groups. Either astarte, or IG



The Defender:
A astarte chapter of the astronomican, for the marine players.


The unseen ally:
Tau players basically in our astro sceme.

So what do we think? we\'ve got some diffrent players at diffrent army levels. Personally i fancy an admec marine/ig force.

A few people want a marine force, and others want tau. The concept is we\'d build diffrent force, i\'d (well the mod crew) would write a campaign for it to bring them together in defence of some important thing, ending in some bloody struggle.

Just an idea....

I\'m planning a khorne force...

After making my model for \"pro-painted\" ebay sales (i\'ve got the skill, just a shite camera) i got to thinking. My lord has lighting claws... and he looks like he about to throw himself at the enemy

So then 300 popped into my head...

And then... the idea that scared me the most...

a 300 strong khorne force... 300 men, dedicated to khorne.

What dya make of the idea?

So you would need more than 1 FOC to get all 300 men. Becuase in a Khorne list they would be troops only.

Gotta hope there isn\'t a super heavy or a titan facing the 300

Besides, i\'d only use 300 if my oppanat agree to none super heavy match ups, otherwise i\'d get one of my own.

i\'ve decided to buy the forgeworld venerable dread, i\'m just gonna try and find a good replacement cannon

For added fire power i will have the following

three dreadnought, one lascannon & havoc launcher, one multi-melta and one all ccw. If i get the chance i\'ll add in another dread or two with a h.bolter and probably another lascannon.

For extra CC and some anti-vec
3 bikers, melta guns, powerfist

for long range fire my armies pretty weak, relying on the dreads. Any suggestions? i want to keep this all infranty (and dreads arre walkers :D so)

Edit: The mk6 armour was invented just a the end of the heresy and i think only salamders had it, check thought any HH boook and you will see only salamnders had it

The marine must and i repeat MUST look like he was in the horis heresy. not just a box set marine in the colours of the smurfs. entries such as will nbe deleted with EXTREME prejudice.

Two catagories are these: Best painted & Best conversion.

The closing date is december 31st.

Looks clean (in a good way) with some good shading. Hard to say because (well you know already) the pic is a bit zoomed out.

K, here is the guide for it pending picies.

Base coat: I use either bubonic brown, or dessert yellow.
Layer 1: Dessert yellow (skip is base coat)
Layer 2: Bleach bone overcoat, leave some of the under layers showing
Layer 3: Skull white (or if you are a more acomplished painter skull white with 25% bleach)
Layer 4: Skull white highlights for those who took the more complex path

A simple guide, but unbelievably effective.
