Aegis Defense Lines could be a bunch of Eldar warp gates on a pieces of baseboard to designate the lines.

Eldar are the masters of grav-tech, so a grav-bastion? Not sure exactly how you'd go about that, but it's still a fun idea.

I play ulthwe, so i have considered making warp gates from flat plastcard cust to shape stood upright on a base (these COULD be counts as bastions)

for aegis defense line, some kind of hollow half egg shape repeated over and over again may work

The planetstrike launch issue of WD had an Eldar bastion in it.

Which made no sense, as the door was the size a small base.

That Eldar scenery in the book looked good, but not "bastionlike" at all. I saw a cool Eldar building once (maybe in a white dwarf ?) that was made out of a wierd-shaped detergent bottle with the bottom cut off. Guy had built a platform on top of the neck of the bottle and those flange-butress things you see on Eldar buildings coming off the sides. It was pretty big, maybe Bastion-sized. That's all I can think of really. Get a big enough bottle and it'd work ok.

I have a few suggestions, that might help you. The first question that needs to be asked though is: are we talking 'terrain' or buildings? Despite the fact that craftworlds might be somewhat ambiguous in that department, there is a rough distinction.

Now, on to some thoughts:

1. Eldar style tends to be very graceful, relying on long curved lines rather than short, straight and very angular designs that characterize Imperial architecture. As such, you can be very free with the look of just about everything- simply go for the 'graceful' look.

2. I personally have found that inspiration comes to me when I look at the codex (including older versions if you've got them/can get your hands on them!) or head into my local GW. Part of the reason that I'm on good terms with the staff at my local store is because when I need ideas, I'll head in, grab a chair, and just watch people play/model or look at the displays. Try doing something like that- find something that helps you think about the topic, and go from there. The staff at the store might also have some great ideas for you- particularly if you've got a member of staff who plays Eldar!

3. While it might seem a low trick, playing the computer games that have the Eldar in might also help- just in terms of getting ideas in a real time visual concept that you can work from.

I did have some more, but they've temporarily slipped my mind, I'll post 'em up when I think of them.

Thanks Honsou, great ideas!

Onto your question at the start of your post, i want both "terrain" and "buildings".

We all play at each others house and when i visit my Space marine friend we play over a blasted imperial landscape, when my Tyranid friend comes over he brings with him lots of spawning pools , oozing carapace clad armatures and all manner of gribbly terrain. and now that i have moved out to my own place, it would be nice to have a sandy based eldar landscape to fight over (sort of like homeworlds for each of our armies if you get my meaning)

So for "terrain" looking for nice bits of characterfull incidental terrain (warpgates like in DoW, peices of crashed titans etc) and of course with the new PLabet strike out i need to work on some Bastions/Aegis line proxies.

The problem is im not very good with terrain making, added into the fact that i dont have the room (nor even always the time between work and important socialising!!)

Of course if anyone who is near to me wants to make the terrain for me :D ...............................

Well on the whole Eldar is probably easier to do than the other two: for the most part, their style is very reserved, almost spartan in some ways- and yet graceful and somehow indulgent. In that sense, for the basic terrain you've got lots of options, but the simplest is to use sweeping terrain, interspersed with a light touch of architecture- make use of arcs, curves and the like in building them.

If you use existing parts, then that job will be all the easier- just remember to always make sure that it looks and feels graceful. Another thing to remember is that the designs are spartan- unlike Imperial architecture, where the aim is to cram as much as possible onto every inch of it, use decoration, markings, and bits reservedly (but carefully placed!) to generate a spartan, graceful effect.

"THIS IS ELDAR!"
*Kicks Marine....Marine doesn't move*
*Marine picks up Eldar by the Neck and throws over shoulder into pit*

Eldar wouldn't kick a marine, the stupid mon-keigh would have his neck sliced open before he even saw the child of Isha move :)

Ahh but which Teaser are you thinking of?

Because the Teaser you may be thinking of, may not be the onw I was thinking of, so therefor we may not be thinking of the same Teaser leading to confusion all because you may not be refering to the same Teaser as to which I am refering to.

Ok. :D

High elf terrain looks quite a lot like elder terrain, perhaps use some of the images in their army books or white dwarfs the august 2011 one for example has a lot of examples.
