I'm looking to do some snow effects for some of my models bases, but I don't have any special snow effects stuff and nor do I want to spend ages looking for the cheapest type, so I want to know. Do any of you guy on astro have some idea on how to improvise some good snow for bases?
So far I've only got this. (http://www.belloflostsouls.net/2008/12/tutorial-snow-basing.html)

Thanks,
Mezz.

Obviously, painting the base white is another way to go- it does allow you to change it more easily, if it's a gaming model. That said, snow flock, as you've already been shown, is often cheap and easy to come by. That's a good tip if you want to go with a more permanent snow base.

All that said, you can also make the stuff yourself- using fine shredder, or some other home tricks. Greenstuff, painted honey resin, and such like are all options. I advise, if you don't want to spend the time working on it though, that you go with the cheap flock.

hey, easy and cheap, baking soda, mixed with pva glue, layed on as you want it, then a small bit over the top afterwards, looks great and very realistic when you get used to how to put it on :)

With the snow flock, (I've never used it) do you just glue it to base like you would sand or normal grass flock?
Cheers for all the tips guys.

well you can just paint pva on your base and then put it in the pot and tap to get the excess off, or mix it up with pva to a thick consistency and use to build it up, and a liitle tip, add a bit of gloss varnish, when it dries you will have shiny glistening new snow
