ok guys, when looking into my new fleet production and spawniing, something got me,
hive ships..... whats the front? i always thought it was the end with the claws on, yet a lot of pics do imply its the other end? now as they can have a bio morph to hang onto other ships i would still say that the tenticle end is the front, do you all agree?
and yes you guessed it there will be a new tyranid bfg fleet emerging soon from warp space to dominate!
itl be a wip, which if ok i will leave in here rather than the normal wips as it is for our beloved bfg, ok all, (mods or not)

I'd say pinchers and tentacles at the front as well, makes for sense and looks better!

yea i did think so nas i said, but reading some bits and looking at some of the pics it look like on some they were behind, as if it rammed backwards, well thanks guys im going for front! ok to do the wip here?

eh, the way I would see a tyranid hive ship would be like a giant squid, plowing through space (water) with all the little gubbins trailing behind. Once the ship gets close to its prey it would be easy enough to come about and latch on with the tentacles. 98% of the time the ship is going to be moving through space and only 2% auctually fighting, so im guessing the ships would have evolved for maximum speed while traveling and moving and less emphasis on the fighting part.

well there you go, see the dilemma, what is front and back? well i think im going to go for a more aesthetically pleasing mini for me at least i.e tentacles at the front moving forwards, but youre quite right on the squid/cuttlefish thing there tallarn, which was my problem at first, i dont think on the back thinking about it would work for bsg either, not being able to reverse, unless i make that in the rules for them, but i think itl get tooo difficult then

yea i have them, also in armada, but it mentions when latching on, not really whats front and back, on the whole im just curious of peoples idea of front and back on them, i think with the rules the tentacles are front but you know?

Have you got any pics?

Reading between the lines here I have this image in my head of something like a Vorlon ship from B5 which all had their "dangly bits" at the front.

youre about right there aeth, a bit likr the vorlon but longer body, check out gw specialist games tab on there site, you will see one there, it depends on which way you think it faces, fluff wise they are for grabbing and rule wise i think thet would be at the front, but as i said i was curious to what others think as well, like tallarn, squid/cuttlefish swimm backwards

I'm thinking at the front, with the arms tooking in together when in "flight mode" then opening up for "battle mode" if that makes sense.

i think my problem is i have a way of photographing, or looking at stuff, you see that mini is flying to the left as thats the way its facing, i put everything facing that way thats moving that way, and thats how i look at the pics, but yea the claws have to be in front, anyways its too late now ...........they have begun to breed on the table! wip to follow!

On the army list the claws are listed as being prow weapons, which suggests they're the front.

yes they are, were just "chewing the cud" so to speak as does it swim forwards or backwards, ok i kmow its not important but you know
