Made after a mate challenged me it was impossible to make scenery other than planets for Battlefleet Gothic.

man thats cool, i know what the ship parts are but whats the material, expanding foam? rep!

Standard packaging foam (or whatever the english name is...all the small styrofoam balls pressed together into a slate) which was exposed to a lighter for a limited period. Add some green stuff and spare cruiser bits and you're set.

Very effective as it shrinks without melting when you keep it far away enough from the lighter. The ideal methode to create interesting looking asteroids. I would advice doing it outside though, a hardened puddle of molten plastic has been stuck to my old carpet ever since I first tried this ;)

Yes, you can do a lot of terrain for BFG... You just need to put yer noggin into it. I'll have to post some of my asteroid fields. Similar to what you've done here but around the central asteroid are multiple little ones suspended by wires emenating from and hidden within the central one.
